Actors Vijay Sethupathi, Arvind Swamy, and Aditi Rao Hydari are set to star in a bold silent film titled Gandhi Talks, which is scheduled for release on January 30.
Director’s Vision
Director Kishore Belekar elaborated on the film’s vision, stating, “Gandhi Talks is a film about trusting silence. As Indian cinema marks over a century of storytelling, we wanted to return to the medium’s most elemental form—pure performance and emotion.”
He further emphasized, “The actors embraced that vulnerability completely, and A.R. Rahman’s score became the film’s voice. With Zee Studios’ and Meera Chopra’s support, we were able to create a bold, honest piece of cinema.”
A Unique Approach
In a film landscape often dominated by scale and sound, Gandhi Talks opts for restraint, emotion, and stillness to convey its message. The movie features an extraordinary ensemble cast that includes Vijay Sethupathi, Arvind Swamy, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Siddharth Jadhav.
A key element enhancing the film is A.R. Rahman’s music, which serves as the emotional voice of Gandhi Talks. In the absence of spoken dialogue, his score narrates the film’s emotional journey, guiding the audience through its landscape.
Plot Overview
Reportedly, the film is a black comedy that examines the contrast between Gandhi’s image on currency notes and his ideals, focusing on a young man’s struggle for money and his encounters with a thief.
