Pratima Kannan Reunites with Actress Seema Biswas After 25 Years: A Nostalgic Instagram Moment

Veteran theatre personality and actor Pratima Kannan recently reunited with her old friend, acclaimed actress Seema Biswas, after nearly 25 years.

Pratima took to Instagram, sharing a picture of the two posing together. They have previously collaborated in films such as Ek Hasina Thi in 2004. In the image, the two are seen standing next to each other, smiling at the camera.

Pratima Kannan has an impressive background in both Bollywood films and Hindi television drama series. She began her career in 1997 with the English film Sixth Happiness. Pratima was last seen on screen in the 2024 film “Merry Christmas,” directed by Sriram Raghavan. This bilingual film features Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi, along with Ashwini Kalsekar, Luke Kenny, and Pari Maheshwari Sharma. The plot is inspired by Frederic Dard’s French novel Le Monte-charge.

Speaking of Seema Biswas, she rose to fame after portraying Phoolan Devi in Shekhar Kapur’s film Bandit Queen. Her performance earned her the National Film Award for Best Actress. The film, based on Phoolan Devi’s life as explored in Mala Sen’s book, premiered in the Directors’ Fortnight section of the 1994 Cannes Film Festival. It was also India’s submission for the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 67th Academy Awards, although it did not receive a nomination.

In 2006, Seema was awarded the Best Actress Genie Award for her role as Shakuntala in Deepa Mehta’s Water. Her other notable works include Khamoshi: The Musical, Pinjar, Bhoot, Vivah, Half Girlfriend, and the series The Family Man.

On the film front, Seema was last seen in Jolly LLB 3, a legal comedy-drama written and directed by Subhash Kapoor. This film is the third installment in the Jolly LLB series and follows Jolly LLB 2, featuring a talented cast that includes Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi, Saurabh Shukla, Amrita Rao, and Huma Qureshi.
