Maida (or, all-purpose flour) is a frequently used food ingredient in the kitchen. Usually, a person eats any food to get nutrition and suppress hunger in the body. And multiple interesting tasty foods can be prepared from this all-purpose flour. It can be found in bread, pizza, pasta, cakes, cookies, muffins, doughnuts, noodles, burgers, etc. So, the question arises as to why such a useful ingredient is being asked to be removed from the kitchen warehouse? The process of refining white flour eliminates all its nutrients And that’s why it’s not able to provide any nutritional benefits. Furthermore, white flour is bleached using highly toxic chlorine bleach, which converts flour into a toxic chemical that destroys pancreatic insulin-producing cells. So, if one doesn’t care about their health-factors, they can go on digesting this. But consuming this flour is nothing but devouring something equal to white poison.
Why White flour becomes so harmful to health?
A wheat-grain has three parts- Bran (i.e., fibre), Endosperm(i.e., starch), and germ(i.e., several other nutrients). This bran is the hard layer of grain and packed with numerous vitamins, proteins, different nutrients and most importantly fibres. The endosperm is the main source of grain contains a vast amount of carbohydrates, protein, iron and also vitamins as well. Lastly, this germ is the sprouting section of grain contain higher protein content, have multiple essential vitamins and a massive source of nutritious oil. However, during the refining process, the bran and germs are removed along with all the nutrients they contain. It leaves almost zero vitamins, minerals and fibre. And thus flour has become a food ingredient without any nutrients and it has multiple demerits as mentioned below.
