  • Anupam Kher Cheers Aditya Dhar’s “Dhurandhar,” Calls Its Success a Reaction to Propaganda Claims

Anupam Kher Cheers Aditya Dhar’s “Dhurandhar,” Calls Its Success a Reaction to Propaganda Claims

Veteran actor Anupam Kher has showered praise on Aditya Dhar’s “Dhurandhar,” stating that the film has transcended allegations of being “propaganda.” He described the positive audience response as a “slap” to those who attempted to label it.

In a heartfelt video message shared from abroad, Anupam expressed that despite having no connection to the film, its success brought him an unexpected sense of peace and pride.

“I don’t have a role in this film. I am not connected to anything. But I don’t know why, with the success of this film, my heart is very peaceful. And I have felt peace and pride. I have felt pride. His great success.”

He refrained from discussing the film’s technical aspects and noted that only a handful of films achieve landmark status.

“For example, Godfather was a landmark film. Sholay was a landmark film. Mughal-e-Azam was a landmark film. If I have to include my films… it means they are not landmark films. Because they are not in my mind. I am not making this video as a historian. I am making it as a cinema-goer.”

Anupam highlighted his own films such as Saaransh, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jaayenge, A Wednesday, and Khosla Ka Ghosla!, calling them ‘path-breaking films’ for offering new perspectives to cinema-goers.

He commended director Aditya Dhar for steering clear of established patterns or formulas.

“But I like Dhurandar from Aditya Dhar. Not only because he is a Kashmiri. He comes from a family of people who were persecuted. And with his work, he has shown what success is all about. And what courage is all about. Not only because of that. As a filmmaker, he has not followed any pattern or formula. No formula. Just conviction.”

Despite Dhurandar breaking box office records, Anupam emphasized that it’s the “kind of people who are praising this film” that truly matters.

“This proves that there was a clique of people who were behind proving propaganda to the film. This is the same clique who tried to do it to The Kashmir Files. And I say, 30% of them succeeded. They debated. But Dhurandar has slapped such people.”

Anupam added, “He has slapped them. Don’t teach us what propaganda is. You are not going to decide what is a propaganda film. Don’t make us feel small. That is what the audience is saying to people like that.”

He reflected on how attempts to belittle art for selfish purposes ultimately lead to art standing up for itself.

“I am so generously proud and happy about the success of the film, and about the film shutting so many people’s thought processes. Try a lot. And people are calling me from abroad, that you have seen Dhurandar, you have done a great job.”

Calling 2025 a defining year for Aditya Dhar, Kher also acknowledged the success of films featuring Yami Gautam, like Article 370 and Haqq.

“What an amazing journey you had. In fact, this year belongs to you, my friend. Not only because of Dhurandar, but Yami’s films — Article 370, then Haqq. What a thing, my friend. The pages of history. What are the pages of history? Today’s pages are important.”

In the comment section, Aditya Dhar responded, “Wow. This truly means so much, sir. Such pure emotion and generosity in your words… And to be mentioned in the same breath as those films is an honor I do not take lightly at all.”

He added, “The line you said ‘Don’t make us feel small, that is what the audience is saying,’ holds so true in today’s time. It has always been my intention as a filmmaker. Words like these push me to do better. I hope to keep making films that are honest, fearless, and hopefully stand the test of time. Truly overwhelmed right now!”

In the caption section, Anupam expressed a strong urge to “express my happiness over the success of Dhurandar in a completely honest way,” adding that it is “an extremely important film and a powerful emotion.”

  • Amitabh Bachchan Reflects on Creativity and Progress: Has Expression Expanded or Contracted?

Amitabh Bachchan Reflects on Creativity and Progress: Has Expression Expanded or Contracted?

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan recently shared a reflective note about creativity, apprehension, and the evolving nature of expression in today’s world. He questioned whether progress has genuinely expanded horizons or quietly narrowed them.

Reflecting on the creative process, Bachchan expressed the constant apprehension that accompanies any artistic endeavor on his blog. He wrote: “The apprehension continues .. will it won’t it .. what if it is rejected and asked to redo or destroy it (sic)..”

The legendary actor observed that creativity is often influenced by external expectations, despite being inherently personal. He stated, “Creativity be damned, they wish it to be the way they would want the creativity .. creativity is but a personal individual mind (sic).”

Bachchan also contemplated the significance of the ‘other’ in the lives of creators, describing it as a small word that encompasses an entire world. He shared, “A gentle small word, bringing with it an entire world of expressions and interpretations .. some most relevant and perhaps not understandable, but there all the same (sic)..”

Commenting on contemporary times, he remarked that nothing seems finite or contained anymore. He pointed out, “In the World of today .. nothing seems to be finite .. bounded or terminable .. say it and a million options shall spring forth .. almost in unison ..(sic).”

He likened the current moment to a window waiting to be opened, inviting fresh air and new frequencies. “Has the World then expanded since the last time we measured .. or has it shrunk to its limited limitations, giving opportunities of a window that needs to be opened and allowed the frequency of the air in its freshness to bind you in its enveloped portents .. so welcomed and desired .. despite its ulterior motifs (sic) ..”

The actor further noted a change in how writers and thinkers approach expression. “The ‘i’ that has acted as a deterrent for most writers .. has for long been replaced with the ‘whys’ .. and that is being bounded by time and place and situation .. which quite inadvertently harbor change (sic)..”

Concluding his thoughts, Bachchan admitted that answers remain elusive. “It has remained a mystery and shall ever be so,” he wrote, ending with a series of questions that underscore his reflection: “What mystery… why mystery… who in mystery (sic).”

  • Actor Ahan Shetty on the rise of honest filmmaking: Emotion now drives stories over stars and spectacle.

Actor Ahan Shetty on the rise of honest filmmaking: Emotion now drives stories over stars and spectacle.

Actor Ahan Shetty believes that the most significant transformation in the first 25 years of the 21st century has been the increasing honesty in filmmaking. He observes that stories are now driven more by emotion and relatability rather than solely by star power and grand spectacles.

    Evolution of Cinema

Reflecting on cinema’s evolution, Ahan, the son of Bollywood veteran Suniel Shetty, expressed, “I think the biggest change has been how honest films have become. Earlier, a lot of storytelling was built around stars and spectacle. Now even the bigger films try to come from a place of emotion and relatability.”

He pointed out that past narratives often relied heavily on larger-than-life elements. Today, however, even big-budget films strive to connect with audiences on a deeper emotional level.

    Audience Engagement

“Technology has definitely changed the scale and reach, but what really surprised me is the audience today. They’re far more involved, they analyse everything, question choices, and really invest in the process,” he remarked.

Ahan believes this shift has elevated expectations for performers. Actors can no longer depend solely on surface-level impact.

“As an actor, you can’t rely on surface-level impact anymore. You actually have to mean what you’re doing on screen,” said Ahan.

    Ahan’s Journey

Ahan began his acting career with the romantic action drama film Tadap in 2021, directed by Milan Luthria, and co-starring Tara Sutaria. This film was a remake of the hit Telugu action film RX 100.

He is now poised to appear in the much-anticipated film Border 2, directed by Anurag Singh. The film features an impressive ensemble cast including Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Medha Rana, Mona Singh, and Sonam Bajwa.

Produced by Bhushan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, Border 2 is set to release in theatres on 23 January 2026.
