  • Gwyneth Paltrow Reveals Why She Refused an Intimate Scene with Ethan Hawke in ‘Great Expectations’

Gwyneth Paltrow Reveals Why She Refused an Intimate Scene with Ethan Hawke in ‘Great Expectations’

Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow has finally addressed her decision to decline filming an intimate scene with her ‘Great Expectations’ co-star Ethan Hawke.

The 53-year-old Paltrow and 55-year-old Hawke recently reminisced about their first encounter almost three decades after sharing the screen in the 1998 adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic novel. The actress revealed that director Alfonso Cuaron had proposed a sex scene, which she ultimately refused, as reported by ‘People’ magazine.

In a video for Vanity Fair, Hawke asked, “Do you remember Alfonso pitching you the love scene?”

Paltrow responded, “Oh, my God,” before elaborating that Cuaron suggested a scene where her character would receive oral sex from Hawke’s character. She candidly shared, “I was like, ‘Oh, my God, my father’s going to have a heart attack.’”

Hawke recalled Cuaron describing the scene, saying, “‘The camera is going to go down your belly, and then it’s going to go up your breasts, and then it’s going to go in your face as you reach ecstasy. And then when you reach ecstasy, the light will explode like the sun.’”

He noted how Paltrow reacted, stating, “And I remember looking at Gwyneth, and Gwyneth is like, ‘Alfonso, I’m never going to do that,’” which made Paltrow laugh.

Reflecting on her early career, the Goop entrepreneur admitted feeling “really self-conscious about my dad and grandfather seeing this kind of stuff.” She expressed that it “really bothered me,” adding, “Now, I wouldn’t care.”

Hawke praised Paltrow’s approach to the situation, describing her as firm but not “petulant.” He said, “You had an awareness of the way that the business works, and the ways in which those kinds of images could be manipulated and what it meant to your dad.”

Paltrow pondered if she was “too prudish in the moment,” to which Hawke confidently responded, “I don’t think you were.” She concluded, “I was definitely worried about it.”

  • Shweta Tripathi on India’s Global Storytelling: Proud of Conversations on Equality and Mental Health

Shweta Tripathi on India’s Global Storytelling: Proud of Conversations on Equality and Mental Health

Actress Shweta Tripathi has shared her thoughts on what makes her proud of Indian stories on a global scale. She expressed her satisfaction with how discussions around equality and mental health are now part of mainstream conversations.

    Global Conversations in Mainstream

As the year concludes, Shweta commented, “First, I think one thing that I’m very happy about is seeing global conversations around equality, mental health, and inclusivity finally move into the mainstream. This has become a part of our everyday conversations. We are so aware of not just what is happening with others but what is happening with ourselves to our minds and body. So I think that was required and needed. There seems to be more understanding, and I really hope that increases and so does empathy.”

    Recognition of Indian Stories

She also highlighted the growing recognition of Indian stories beyond borders. “Second thing would be Indian stories finding a confident global voice. Be it our cinema, art, culture, it’s being recognized beyond borders.”

    The Impact of OTT Platforms

Shweta further noted the excitement brought by the rise of OTT platforms. “It has been very exciting personally and professionally for me as an actor, as a producer, and also as an audience because people across the globe are raising the bar. That always encourages and motivates you to keep at it, even on those days where you feel you couldn’t do it. When I see a show, a film, or read a book or a play, it always gives me that extra kick which I’m hoping will multiply into many more kicks for many more people.”

Empowerment of Women and Young Girls

She emphasized the empowerment of women and young girls across various fields. “Third would be the rise of women 100%, the rise of women and young girls across all fields—from sports, like us winning the World Cup, to science, politics, and the arts. They are also challenging long-held stereotypes.”

    Reshaping Leadership

Shweta remarked, “I think it was high time for that. There have always been men and women challenging these issues, but now, thanks to social media and how connected we are, more of these stories are emerging. Challenging stereotypes as an actor, as a human, as an artist is always very exciting and reshaping leadership.”

India’s Presence on the World Stage

Lastly, she praised India’s cultural and creative assertion on the world stage. “Fourth would be a country, India asserting itself not just economically but culturally and creatively, with pride and originality about who we are and what we stand for.”

  • Krystle D’Souza talks about stepping in for Tamannaah Bhatia in ‘Shararat’ and her journey to it.

Krystle D’Souza talks about stepping in for Tamannaah Bhatia in ‘Shararat’ and her journey to it.

Popular television actress Krystle D’Souza has opened up about stepping in for Tamannaah Bhatia in the much-discussed song ‘Shararat’ from the film “Dhurandhar.”

    Destiny and Talent

Speaking candidly, Krystle emphasized that it was all about destiny, saying, “What’s meant to be, will be.” She praised Tamannaah’s talent and beauty, noting how opportunities often align perfectly. When asked about reports suggesting that Tamannaah was rejected for the song, Krystle stated she wasn’t aware of the decisions made behind the scenes but recognized Tamannaah’s incredible talent, calling her ‘amazing.’

Krystle shared, “I had no idea about all this, but I mean, she’s amazing, she’s beautiful, and she’s so good at what she does. More power to her, you know—what’s written in someone’s destiny, they receive. I feel like this was meant for me, it was meant for Ayesha, and we got it. But that doesn’t take away from how beautiful Tamannaah is or what a great performer she is.”

    Support for Fellow Artists

She added, “Maybe she would have added her own spark to a song—she brings her own aura, her own limelight, and I think that’s wonderful. I feel proud of every woman who is doing so well, and I’d love to see more women deliver amazing, crazy performances and support one another.”

Krystle D’Souza and Ayesha Khan feature in the song “Shararat” from “Dhurandhar.” The upbeat track has been sung by renowned Punjabi singer Jasmine Sandlas and Madhubanti Bagchi.

    Clarification on the Casting

For those unversed, choreographer Vijay Ganguly recently shared in an interview that Tamannaah was initially considered for the song, but director Aditya Dhar did not approve the idea. Following the viral nature of his statement, he went on to clarify on his Instagram stories that Tamannaah was never actually in the running for the track.

In his statement, Vijay wrote, “To clarify: Tamannaah Bhatia was never under consideration because her star power is so significant it might have overwhelmed the specific needs of this scene. In “Dhurandhar,” the music is woven into a high-stakes moment where the tension is key. The makers opted for two performers to keep the focus on the story’s progression. This choice was about protecting the film’s atmosphere and ensuring the narrative remains the hero of the sequence.”

Vijay Ganguly also expressed his thoughts on the discourse surrounding the film, saying, “I genuinely enjoy conversations around cinema and the many layers that go into making a film. That said, I have often refrained from putting myself out there because sometimes words get selectively lifted, misquoted, or sensationalized to serve headlines rather than the craft. It’s unfortunate that instead of the conversation staying on the song and the creative intent behind ‘Shararat,’ the focus has shifted to comparisons between two wonderful artists, with strong and reductive terms like ‘rejections’ being used—something that was never the spirit of what was shared.”

He concluded, “Cinema is collaborative. It thrives on respect, nuance, and context. I hope we can keep the spotlight where it belongs—on the work and the many people who pour their hearts into it.”

  • Film Professional Alleges Intense Pressure to Withdraw Complaint Against Veteran Director P.T. Kunhummuhammed

Film Professional Alleges Intense Pressure to Withdraw Complaint Against Veteran Director P.T. Kunhummuhammed

A woman film professional has accused veteran filmmaker P.T. Kunhummuhammed of sexual misconduct and claimed that she is under intense pressure from various sources to withdraw her complaint and “protect” him.

The survivor reported that intermediaries have approached her, urging her to reconsider her case, citing Kunhummuhammed’s age and health condition as reasons for leniency. According to her, the alleged incident occurred during the selection process for films at the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK). She described the filmmaker and former CPI-M lawmaker’s behavior as inappropriate and offensive, prompting her to seek authorities’ intervention.

Instead of support, she alleges she has faced emotional pressure and intimidation aimed at silencing her. Several individuals have reportedly intervened on behalf of the accused, requesting her to withdraw the complaint and arguing that he is elderly and unwell.

“I am being told repeatedly to let this go. The pressure has become unbearable,” she stated, expressing feelings of isolation and a lack of support despite her serious allegation. She further claimed that the system has appeared to side with the accused from the beginning.

According to her, the police delayed registering the case despite her repeated complaints. “Even after I approached the authorities, no action was taken for several days. It was only after the issue became public through media reports that the police finally registered an FIR,” she said.

The survivor also alleged that even after the case was registered, authorities allowed time for the accused to seek anticipatory bail, indicating a lack of urgency and seriousness in handling the matter.

The Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) has publicly criticized how the case has been managed. In their statement, they highlighted that despite the survivor reaching out to the Chief Minister’s Office, no direct response or intervention was provided. The WCC questioned the delay in registering the FIR, noting that the police took nearly eight days to act after recording the survivor’s statement.

This controversy has reignited discussions on institutional apathy, power imbalances within the film industry, and the challenges faced by survivors who come forward with allegations against influential figures. There are increasing calls for an impartial and time-bound investigation to ensure that justice is served without fear or favor.

  • Madhuri Dixit on Rising Ticket Prices: Do They Affect Your Movie Choices? Discover Her Insights!

Madhuri Dixit on Rising Ticket Prices: Do They Affect Your Movie Choices? Discover Her Insights!

Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit recently shared her insights on the shifting dynamics of moviegoing, emphasizing how rising cinema ticket prices are affecting theatre attendance.

    Rising Ticket Prices Impact Choices

In a candid conversation, the ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’ star highlighted that while quality films still attract audiences, the escalating cost of tickets is leading families to be more discerning about their cinema choices. This is especially true given the ease of access provided by OTT platforms at home. Madhuri noted that movies are readily available for viewing after a long day at work, making it convenient for many.

    Changing Viewing Habits

Madhuri, now 58, explained that for most people, evenings after work are often late, which limits their opportunities to visit theatres. As a result, weekends have become the primary time for families to enjoy films on the big screen.

She stated, “If the film is good, it will run, and you have seen a few films running now in the theatres. So, it’s not as if films are not running. I think if you go to see that even the cost of the tickets is very high. So, when one family goes there, they have to spend a lot of money. So, they really have to budget and think, which film to watch and which not to watch.”

    The Convenience of OTT

Madhuri further elaborated on the convenience of OTT platforms, saying, “Also, because of OTT, you know movies are at your fingertips. You’re watching it at home whenever you want, when you get the time. Nowadays, even coming from work for people, by the time they get home, it is 8.30, 9.00. After that, going to watch a film has become a little difficult. Weekends is the time when they can actually go when they have vacations.”

She continued, “So, all these things and they can, on OTT, you can watch the film anytime you want at your convenience and I guess it’s cheaper to watch a film at home. You can have all the popcorn and everything, you know, made at home and enjoy it. So, a lot of reasons. But I don’t think, I don’t see a bleak future. I just think some things could be corrected and, you know, make the cinema experience better for the people.”

This opportunity allowed her to be part of a powerful ensemble cast that includes some of the industry’s most respected names. Krystle D’Souza appears in the song “Shararat” from “Dhurandhar,” performed by Jasmine Sandlas and Madhubanti Bagchi. The track, featuring Ayesha Khan, has quickly become a chartbuster on social media.

She revealed that she was initially uncertain about the amount of screen time she would receive in the song, but she eagerly accepted the role because of the film’s esteemed cast.

Krystle stated, “To be honest, this feels like a dream. Just sharing screen space with Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, and R. Madhavan is a huge deal for me. • Actress Tridha Choudhury discusses her smart career choices and avoiding typecasting in Hollywood projects.

Actress Tridha Choudhury discusses her smart career choices and avoiding typecasting in Hollywood projects.

Actress Tridha Choudhury recently opened up about the careful choices she has made while navigating opportunities across industries.

In an exclusive interview, she explained that she was aware that doing nude scenes in a Hollywood project could limit her future opportunities, especially in Bollywood and other industries. Tridha noted that such a choice might have led to her being typecast or blocked from various projects. Having already explored the international space, she believes there are other ways to work globally without compromising her long-term career.

Tridha Choudhury stated, “If I would have done one project in Hollywood, where I would have done nude scenes, it would have blocked a lot of my other projects. I knew that. So, I feel that if I have already tapped into the Hollywood space, I can still go ahead with a different approach. But for one project, I wouldn’t risk the rest of my journey in Bollywood or somewhere else.”

    Career Highlights

On the work front, Tridha made her film debut with Srijit Mukherji’s “Mishawr Rawhoshyo” in 2013 and later gained recognition on television with StarPlus’s series “Dahleez,” which aired in March 2016. In 2020, she appeared in notable roles in Amazon Prime Video’s “Bandish Bandits” and MX Player’s popular series “Aashram.”

Recently, Tridha starred in Kapil Sharma’s film “Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2,” which also featured Hira Warina, Parul Gulati, and Ayesha Khan.

    Transitioning to Comedy

When asked what prompted her to take up the film and whether it marked a deliberate move from intense or bold characters to comedy, Tridha shared, “I believe actors choose roles where the script feels stronger. If you’ve watched Aashram, you must have noticed how Babita’s character evolves. Her arc becomes deeply political, and that shift was part of the writing.”

She added, “After that, I never felt people were typecasting me as ‘bold,’ though yes, sometimes the roles offered were more for eye-candy. But whether I’m punching someone or kissing someone, both are still acting. At the end of the day, everything we do is performance. Comedy, however, is a different kind of challenge. Through this film, I got to explore that zone, and I’m still learning.”
