Backed by the Friday Storytellers banner and directed by Raghav Jairath, “Taskaree: The Smuggler’s Web” is set to premiere on January 14 on the popular streaming platform.

Film Background

The story is reportedly set in the 14th century, during the reign of Hoysala emperor Veera Vallalar III. It explores the valour and resistance of the Kadavarayas of Sendhamangalam, along with the turbulent changes prompted by the Mughal invasion of Tamil Nadu.

In November, the makers unveiled the striking first look of actress Rakshana Induchoodan as Draupathi Devi. She portrayed a look that exuded dignity and strength, capturing the essence of the character.

Alongside Rakshana Induchoodan, the film features Richard Rishi and actor-cinematographer Natti Natraj in significant roles. Additionally, it will showcase talents such as Y. G. Popular Punjabi singer Guru Randhawa paid a heartfelt tribute to the legendary musician Ustad Puran Shah Koti, who passed away recently.

Randhawa shared a throwback clip on his official Instagram, capturing a jamming session where everyone in the room enjoyed the beautiful melodies provided by the Ustad. While playing the harmonium, he performed one of his melodious tunes.

The Punjabi musician emphasized that Ustad Puran Shah Koti’s significant contributions to the music industry will never be forgotten.
