The teaser opens with a schoolboy being warned by a woman, “Grandma is going to come now. Better switch off the TV and run away to school. If grandma catches you, she will kill you.” It becomes clear that it’s not just the boy who fears the elderly woman, named Pavunu Thaayi. The entire village trembles at the sight of her, hurriedly getting out of her way. Pavunu Thaayi is depicted as a ruthless moneylender, willing to go to extreme lengths to collect interest on loans made to villagers. She is a source of dread in the village, with many wondering why noble people seem to meet their demise while she continues to thrive.

Pavunu Thaayi is aware of the villagers’ hatred and muses, “If I am to die tomorrow, I will go all by myself to the graveyard and lie down in my grave myself. I am very strong. I have no diabetes, no blood pressure and no weakness.” The teaser concludes with developments that lead the villagers to speculate whether the old woman will meet her end.

In addition to Radhika Sarathkumar as Thaai Kizhavi, the film features actors Singam Puli, Arul Doss, Bala Saravanan, Munishkanth, Ilavarasu, George Maryan, Muthukumar, and Raichal Rabecca among others.

Hollywood actress Kate Winslet quickly developed a strong bond with actor Fisayo Akinade right from their first meeting.

After sharing a coffee and a chat, Winslet offered him a role in her directorial debut, ‘Goodbye June’, reports ‘Deadline’. The film is now available on Netflix after a limited theatrical release.

Prior to this meeting, Akinade, renowned for his stage performances, was on the upper deck of a London bus when he received a call from his agent. The news was that Winslet wanted to meet him for her film. “I said, ‘How the f*** does she know who I am?’” he recounted. His agent added that he should know who he might be acting alongside.

According to ‘Deadline’, the names mentioned included Helen Mirren, Toni Collette, Timothy Spall, Johnny Flynn, Andrea Riseborough, and Winslet herself. “‘What the f*** is going on?’” he remembered exclaiming.

The film, written by Joe Anders, the son of Winslet and Sam Mendes, tells the story of a family matriarch who passes away during Christmastime. Winslet envisioned Akinade in the role of Angel, a cancer ward nurse caring for Mirren’s character, June, as her husband and their four children gather by her bedside. Their meeting took place at Soho Hotel.

Akinade described running to the restroom when Winslet appeared before him. “I thought, ‘Jesus. This is a woman I have watched since I was about 12 years old, and she’s just here in the flesh, so warm and lovely and funny and honest’.” Over coffee, she shared insights about the film, her personal life, and then stated, “Well, listen, I want you to do it. English singer-songwriter Sir Elton John is celebrating an early Christmas as his festive song ‘Step Into Christmas’ has achieved platinum status in the US.

The 78-year-old music legend appeared overjoyed as he posed for a photo holding a plaque commemorating this achievement for the Christmas classic, first released in 1973. ‘Step Into Christmas’ has not only gone platinum in America but has also been certified 4x platinum in the UK, according to reports.

Sharing a picture of himself in front of the two plaques, he wrote in the caption, “A special Christmas present to me! Step Into Christmas has gone platinum in the US and 4× platinum in the UK.”

Elton expressed how “very special” it was to see his music receive such recognition and was thrilled that ‘Step Into Christmas’ made it into the UK Singles Chart’s Top 10 this Christmas. The song will occupy the 9th position on Christmas Day, just below Kelly Clarkson’s ‘Underneath the Tree’, after Kylie Minogue’s holiday track secured the UK’s festive number one.
