Actress Santhi Mayadevi has begun dubbing for director Jeethu Joseph’s highly anticipated Malayalam film, ‘Drishyam 3’, featuring superstar Mohanlal in the lead role.

The actress, who holds an important part in this popular franchise, shared a glimpse of her dubbing session on her Instagram Stories, captioning it, “Inside the world of Georgekutty. Drishyam 3!”

Sources close to the production confirm that the dubbing process is moving forward quickly. For those who may not know, the film is set to release worldwide on April 2 this year.

Earlier, it was reported that Mohanlal completed filming his portions in December last year. A clip of him celebrating this milestone with a cake-cutting ceremony alongside the entire crew had gone viral.

Mohanlal began work on this project just before receiving the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest honor in Indian cinema, last year.

‘Drishyam 3’ is the third installment in the immensely successful franchise, which was formally launched with a traditional puja ceremony at a law college near Kochi in September last year.

During a media interaction ahead of the launch, Jeethu Joseph revealed that the film will delve into the next chapter of Georgekutty’s life, the iconic character portrayed by Mohanlal.

“The film focuses on what happens in Georgekutty’s life after four-and-a-half years. That is the crux of the story,” Joseph explained.

Producer Antony Perumbavoor, a long-time collaborator of Mohanlal and instrumental in the success of the Drishyam series, mentioned that the decision to move ahead with the third installment followed extensive discussions.

“The phenomenal response to the first two parts convinced us that Georgekutty’s journey had more to tell. Only after detailed talks with Jeethu did we finalize this new version,” Perumbavoor stated.

The unit has filmed in multiple locations including Thodupuzha and Vagamon, with the last five-day schedule occurring in Ernakulam.

Chinmayi’s indirect defense of the woman who posted a video that led to Deepak’s death was criticized by many, including actress Kasthuri. She expressed her discontent, saying, “This heartless post made me sad and angry. What is this absurd comparison? You don’t spare a guy even after he is dead? It is very worrying if one’s universe has no men, only demons… and no women, only victims.”

For context, Deepak, a resident of Govindapuram in Kozhikode, Kerala, died by suicide after a young woman, identified as Shimjitha Musthafa from Vadakara, accused him of sexual harassment through a viral video. The video quickly spread, leading to severe public shaming.

Deepak’s family and friends claimed he was mentally devastated after the video went viral. P.S. Sreedharan Pillai, former Goa Governor and senior advocate, who visited Deepak’s family, pointed out significant procedural flaws in the case management. He questioned why police initially classified the incident merely as an “unnatural death,” despite the clear connection between the viral video and the suicide.

“Even a child can understand this is a case of abetment to suicide, a crime punishable with up to 10 years’ imprisonment,” he asserted, suggesting that key facts were overlooked during the inquest.

Subsequently, police have registered a new FIR based on a complaint from Deepak’s mother, invoking charges of abetment to suicide.

Actor Nitin Rao, who had the opportunity to star alongside Emraan Hashmi in the recently released Taskaree, has expressed his admiration for the Bollywood star. He noted that despite Hashmi’s seniority in the industry, he never created a sense of hierarchy on set.

I had previously worked with the same production house on Kaun Pravin Tambe?, so there was already a sense of familiarity and trust. When I came in for the audition, everything clicked naturally — both sides felt I was right for the role. What excited me most was how different this character was from what I had done before.”

Embracing New Challenges

“In Kaun Pravin Tambe?, I played Abhi Koravela, a real-life character who was soft-spoken, gentle, and calm. In Taskaree, my character operates at the ground level of Mumbai’s smuggling network — rough, tough, and deeply entrenched in crime, where violence and execution are just part of the job. That contrast really intrigued me.”

Nitin added, “It gave me a chance to explore a completely different side of myself as an actor and showcase my versatility, which is why I immediately said yes to the project.”

Reflecting on the emotional depth of his character, Nitin noted how different it is from his real self. “I am very different from this character. In real life, I’m calm, positive, and deeply connected to yoga and mindfulness. Playing someone who thrives in chaos and violence was a complete contrast — almost 180 degrees from who I am.”

Nitin expressed his excitement about the role: “That’s what made it exciting. I wanted to experiment and push myself out of my comfort zone. The response I’ve received so far has been very encouraging, which reassures me that the risk was worth it.”
