If sources within the industry are to be believed, director Mahesh Narayanan’s eagerly awaited thriller ‘Patriot’, featuring the superstars of Malayalam cinema, Mammootty and Mohanlal, is set for release on April 23 this year.
While there hasn’t been any official announcement regarding the film’s release date, insiders suggest that April 23 is indeed the target.
It’s worth noting that on January 4 this year, the filmmakers announced that the shooting for the movie had been completed. They celebrated with a message, saying, “That’s a wrap. Blood, sweat, belief. #PATRIOT marches on. See you on the big screen.”
A behind-the-scenes video featuring the stars was also shared to commemorate this milestone.
‘Patriot’ has generated significant excitement ever since its announcement and boasts an impressive cast that includes acclaimed actors Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, Nayanthara, and Revathy alongside Mammootty and Mohanlal.
The teaser released by the makers last year further heightened expectations among fans and film enthusiasts.
The teaser opens with a voiceover stating, “I remember there was a time when this nation was controlled by the two of them. Together. Over these years, what they earned wasn’t just followers. Faith. Trust.”
It features a series of gripping, intense scenes, with Mammootty’s voice declaring, “They are going to bring social score to people.” Mohanlal, who appears to portray an army general, questions, “There are three of us. Do you think you can stop us?”
The teaser hints at a program called Periscope, with Kunchacko Boban playing a character named Daniel. Nayanthara asks, “This program, which is part of the student laptop scheme. Is that similar to Periscope?” Another voice inquires, “Is this program watching them secretly?” The teaser culminates with Mammootty urging someone to complete the sentence, “Great Indian traitor… or Patriot.”
Overall, the teaser suggests that the film will focus on a group of socially responsible individuals aiming to thwart an illegal attempt by the government to monitor its citizens.
