In recognition of the rights of girls and the unique challenges that girls face around the world, on December 19, 2011, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution declaring October 11 as the International Day of the Child.

This year’s theme, “My Voice, Our Equal Future”, translates a more developed world inspired and led by adolescent girls as part of the Global Generation Equality Movement.

Even in this era of the 21st century girls are still addressed as inferior to men. Knowing it’s a crime, fetuses of girl children are being killed in the mother’s womb with cruelty.

We need to open up and use social handles to spread a clear agenda and multifaceted vision to articulate the needs and opportunities of adolescent girls during this epidemic.

Ahead of OCT 11, though we witnessed many events spreading awareness of girls. One biggest example is set by Sanna Marin as she hands over all her government duties and charges to a 16 yrs old girl Aava Murto.

Many adolescents lead the movement – be it climate change, gender equality or racial issues. They are letting the world know that girls’ voices and their dreams can no longer be avoided even in the most remote corners of the world.

For example,

Neha, a teenage girl, is a girl’s rights and gender equality activist. She is focused on tackling trafficking and gender-based violence. Neha is now also making International Global Young Influencer. He grew up in a slum in Kathmandu.

And Greta Thunberg, face of girl power. A 16 yr old who lead a gobal movement for climate change in 2019.

So, it’s time to take a stand for all girls. Stop abusing them and let them grow to build up a beautiful world.
