Global icon Priyanka Chopra Jonas recently shared insights about her daughter Malti Marie Jonas’ affection for India and its rich cultural heritage.
Malti’s Connection to Indian Culture
During her guest appearance on the opening episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show Season 4, Priyanka revealed that Malti is enamored with the notion of being an ‘Indian Princess.’
“Malti travels with me to India and has seen a lot of places; from Mumbai to Delhi, Hyderabad, and Ayodhya, she has explored so much,” Priyanka explained. “I am trying to help her know more about Indian culture, traditions, and values.”
She added, “Whenever she wears Ghagra Choli, she calls herself an Indian princess. She loves her bindi, bangles, and accessories.” Navjyot Singh Sidhu humorously remarked, “A queen’s daughter will obviously call herself a princess,” alluding to Priyanka’s royal status.
A Unique Karva Chauth Experience
In the same episode, Priyanka shared a heartwarming anecdote about her American pop star husband, Nick Jonas. She recounted how he took her in his plane above the clouds to view the moon and break their fast on the eve of Karva Chauth. “Apne plane mein clouds ke upar leke gaye aur chaand dekh ke vrat toda,” she said, translating to how he took her above the clouds in a plane to see the moon and break their fast.
She also mentioned that her mother-in-law sends her sargi every year on Karwa Chauth, highlighting the blend of cultural traditions in her life.
Upcoming Projects
Priyanka flew to India specifically for the first episode of Kapil Sharma’s talk show, marking the launch of its fourth season. She even shared an in-flight selfie, showcasing her excitement about working with Kapil.
On the professional front, Priyanka was recently in Hyderabad shooting for her upcoming movie, Varanasi, which stars South superstar Mahesh Babu and is directed by SS Rajamouli.
