Actor Ishaan Khatter has expressed his reflections on the year 2025, describing it as “extraordinary” for him. With his film “Homebound” officially shortlisted for the upcoming Academy Awards, he took to Instagram to share a series of glimpses from his recent getaway in Goa, dubbing it a “perfect year ender.”
In his caption, Ishaan wrote, “This year has been so extraordinary… counting my blessings. Perfect year ender and much needed getaway – aura cleansed and farmed. Feeling re-energised and calm stepping into 2026.”
This year, Ishaan made his appearance in the series The Royals, directed by Priyanka Ghose and Nupur Asthana. The show features a stellar cast including Bhumi Pednekar, Zeenat Aman, Sakshi Tanwar, Nora Fatehi, Vihaan Samat, Dino Morea, and Milind Soman. The narrative revolves around a financially struggling royal family in modern-day India, whose fortunes shift dramatically when the heir partners with a hospitality entrepreneur to transform their ancestral palace into a luxury resort. The series was renewed for a second season on May 28, 2025.
Following this, he starred in Neeraj Ghaywan’s “Homebound,” inspired by a 2020 New York Times article by Basharat Peer. Featuring Vishal Jethwa and Janhvi Kapoor alongside him, the film had its world premiere in the Un Certain Regard section of the 2025 Cannes Film Festival on May 21, where it was met with a nine-minute standing ovation.
“Homebound” has been selected as the Indian entry for the Best International Feature Film category at the 98th Academy Awards, making the December shortlist. The film tells the poignant story of two childhood friends from a small village in North India, who aspire to become police officers to gain the respect they have always longed for. However, as they edge closer to their dream, external pressures and personal struggles begin to test their friendship.
