Before its theatrical release, ‘Mayasabha’ has garnered significant attention on the festival circuit. It will have a special screening at the 3rd Asian Film Festival on January 11. Moreover, the film is officially selected under Indian Cinema at the Pune International Film Festival (PIFF) 2026, organized by the Government of Maharashtra, where it will screen on January 17.

Reflecting on the project, Rahi Anil Barve expressed, “With ‘Mayasabha’, my second film after Tumbbad, I return to storytelling that captivates me—myth, mystery, and psychological depth. Following ‘Tumbbad’, there was an expectation to push my own boundaries as well as those of the audience, and ‘Mayasabha’ is my response to that. The film promises a journey into concealed truths and power structures that are often more perilous than they may appear.”
He added, “It boldly navigates a realm where symbolism intertwines with suspense, where silence frequently resonates more profoundly than spoken words. Visually, I aimed to craft a world that is sharper, darker, and deeply immersive, where tension and philosophy coexist, with every frame carrying significance.”
