  • Will India Qualify For the Semifinal Of ICC Women’s T20 World Cup ?

Will India Qualify For the Semifinal Of ICC Women’s T20 World Cup ?

India will face Ireland in their final group stage match in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.India’s defeat to England has not ended their chances of securing a semifinal spot in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup. Has left India’s fate out of their hands as they failed to chase 152 runs. On the basis of form and rankings, it is still likely that India will earn their semifinal spot, but it is far from being confirmed.

England is at the top of group two with three wins in three matches and six points, India is in second place with two wins in three matches and a total of four points and Pakistan is at the third position, having won one out of their two games, they have a total of two points.

India’s semifinal chances will be heavily dependent on Sunday’s clash between Pakistan and West Indies. Both teams are two points behind the Women in Blue and have one and two games left to play respectively. If Windies win their match against Pakistan, it will help the women in blue heavily. It will see both Windies and India tied at four points. It would be also highly unlikely for the Windies to leapfrog India on the table because of their inferior net run rate. It will also stop Pakistan at just two points for a while before they play their final game against England.

India loses to Ireland, they will have to rely on England to beat Pakistan by a massive margin to ensure a huge NRR swing in their favour.India can still finish as group winners and advance to the semifinals, but NRR stands in their way.

  • Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023: Cameron Green badly injured, won’t play in the first Test confirms captain Pat Cummins

Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023: Cameron Green badly injured, won’t play in the first Test confirms captain Pat Cummins

Australia Test captain Pat Cummins told Fox Sports, the 23-year-old all- rounder batsmen Cameron Green will be not playing in the first of the 4 series test match against India due to his finger injury while practicing in the nets. He was seen bleeding as he suffered a thumb injury that needed surgery.

Cummins further told the channel, “I know he won’t be bowling (in the first Test). The next week’s obviously really important, He hasn’t been able to do a lot yet. I think the nature of that particular injury is once it comes good, it comes good really quickly.”

He was the second most expensive player in the auction for IPL at a cost of Rs. 17.50 Crores sold to Mumbai Indians in 2023. Pat knows his value for the team so he has given Green the required break as his availability for the rest of the matches is crucial.

Cummins went on to assure there is nothing to worry about right now, “you look at our team, players like Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Scott Boland, they’re top-class bowlers, so even though it might be spinning conditions, it’s hard to bet against those guys not doing a fantastic job.”

Green debuted in the Gavaskar trophy in 2020 – 2021 and his performance was outstanding. Australia will play the four test series against India in VCA stadium in Nagpur on 9th of February 2023 and whoever wins will be in the final of World Test Champanship (WTC ) as South Africa and Sri Lanka are also in the line.

  • An Overview of Cricket Odds to Help You Place Your Bets

If you have started using a cricket betting app recently, it is important for you to know odds work in this arena. In case you have already gone through different pages of the app, you must have noticed that odds are listed out for various matches of the day. Depending on the platform you are using, these odds can be in decimals (most commonly) or in fractions. But what do these odds mean? How do they impact your decision to place a bet? Read on to find out all the answers to your questions.

Understanding the basics of live cricket odds

The matches that are played for limited-overs, such as T20 or IPL, are just head-to-head contests. However, there is a chance of having a tie in the test matches. Now, cricket odds are the simple numerical ways to predict the result depending on the bets that have been placed in the market already. As such, live cricket odds are simply about predicting the odds while the match is playing on the screen.

You can go for low odds if you bet against the general prediction in the market. If you are right in this case, you stand a chance to win big and take home a major prize. In simple words, odds determine the amount of money a person can lose or win in each bet they make. Their new bets are placed on the odds. Let’s explain this with an example.

A simple example of odds in a cricket betting app

Suppose your chosen app is showing the odds for the exciting match between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The odds are listed as 50-55. It means that the odds placed on MI is 50 and CSK is 55.

If you place a bet of INR 100 on MI to win the match, you will take home a total amount of INR 150 if MI wins. If MI loses, you lose the entire INR 100 that you had put up as a bet. Consider the same situation if CSK wins and you bet INR 100 on them.

You can also use these odds to bet on the losing team. For instance, you can bet INR 100 on the prospects of MI losing the match. If the team really loses, you will take home INR 155. But if MI ends up winning the match, you will only lose the INR 55, which refers to the odds of CSK winning the game.

Reading different kinds of odds in cricket

Sportsbooks tend to list out odds in three different ways. Now, many of the books let you choose how these odds get listed, which you will need to select depending on your ease of understanding. Though decimal odds are usually the easiest to read, you might be more comfortable with the other two types.

    American odds

These odds are listed in whole numbers and have a positive or negative sign right in front of them. For example, team C has +120 and team D has –140.

The plus sign indicates that the team happens to be an underdog, which means you will have to bet INR 100 for winning the amount. In this case, you will have to bet INR 100 to win INR 120. Negative sign indicates the exact opposite of this condition.

    Fractional odds

Fractional odds are mostly used in the UK, and these are written in the form of fractions. For instance, a fractional odd looks like 1.5/1, which means you will have to bet INR 100 to win INR 150.

    Decimal odds

Decimal odds simply refer to the probabilities that are written as percentages. You will have to consider 100% and get that divided by the possibility of the outcome. For instance, consider the outcome to be 50%. So, take it 100% / 50%, which comes up as 2.0.

Let’s explain it further with an example. Consider the probability to win as 65%, which means the math comes up as 100/65, i.e., 1.54. so, each unit bet by you will help you earn 1.54 units, going by the example mentioned above.

Hopefully, you have a clear idea about cricket odds now. Go ahead and start betting to get an even better understanding.

  • Top 6 Memorable Hat-Tricks in ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup

The seventh ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup is slated to occur in Oman and the United Arab Emirates from October 17th to November 14th, 2021. As the game evolved over the years, the limelight is not only on the crickets, but the bowlers also have an advantage in studying the pitch and correcting things. Time and again, cricket tournaments have proved that it’s not enough to choose the top batsmen, but a cricket team needs top bowlers and all-rounders too.

In the world of bowling, there are few achievements as satisfying and mind-boggling as a hat-trick. One of the most challenging feats for a bowler is nailing that perfect trifecta. To pull off a hat-trick, a bowler must have a high level of consistency and accuracy. Since the seventh ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup got postponed by a year due to the raging coronavirus pandemic, many cricket lovers are eagerly waiting for the tournament to start. However, the tournament is being held in the UAE, which means many people will miss out on watching live matches from the stadium.

There’s no need to feel disheartened because you can virtually become a part of the tournament via the fantasy cricket game. The game lets you create your virtual cricket team for the World Cup consisting of real players. One of the first things to learn how to play fantasy cricket is knowing how to create a balanced team. What’s more, you can create multiple teams with a combination of players to improve your chances of getting a good score.

While you download and register for the fantasy cricket game and prepare to take part in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, let’s take you on a journey of some of the most memorable hat-tricks in the tournament’s history. These hat-tricks are permanent residences in the annals of cricket lore.

    Chetan Sharma (India)

Chetan Sharma was the first-ever bowler to get a hat-trick in a cricket world cup. Due to a thumb injury, Chetan was about to be dropped from the 1987 World Cup squad. Luckily, captain Kapil Dev appealed to the BCCI on his behalf to pick him up for the squad. Chetan justified his selection in a match against New Zealand.

Chetan’s first wicket was Ken Rutherford, and he was bowled out with an astonishing inswinging delivery. He followed that with straight and faster deliveries and took out Ewen Chatfield and Ian Smith.

This hat-trick brought Chetan a lot of fame, and it was the highlight of his career. Incidentally, this was also the first hat-trick by an Indian bowler in International cricket.

    Saqlain Mushtaq (Pakistan)

Hat-tricks are rare, and therefore, cricket lovers had to wait twelve years and three more editions of the tournament to witness another nifty hat-trick. The hat-trick witnessed in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup was pulled off by Pakistani off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq against Zimbabwe at the Oval Ground. Mushtaq is one of the most feared bowlers in the world, and he pulled off the wicket of tail-ender Henry Olonga and went on to remove Adam Huckle, and at last, he eliminated Pommie Mbangwa in LBW. In ICC Men WC, Mushtaq became the second cricketer to get three in three balls.

    Chaminda Vaas (Sri Lanka)

Chaminda Vaas is one of the most underrated bowlers in the history of cricket. The Sri Lankan bowler was known for his swing bowling, and in the 2003 World Cup, when Sri Lanka was playing against Bangladesh, he picked up a wicket with his first ball. With a beautiful inswinging delivery, he picked up the wicket of Hannan Sarkar, and his next wicket was Mohammad Ashraful, a Bangladeshi legend. His third wicket was Ehsanui Haque. Thanks to his efforts, the Bangladeshi team was all-out for 124 runs.

    Brett Lee (Australia)

With his lethal pace bowling, Brett Lee struck fear in the hearts of batters. He was the key bowler of the Australian cricket team when they were dominating the cricketing world.

The 2003 World Cup was special for the entire Australian team because they were the first team to win the tournament without losing a single game. Brett Lee was part of the squad, and he picked his first hat-trick against Kenya during the World Cup. KO Otieno was his victim, which was followed by Brijal Patel and David Obuya. Brett Lee’s bowling was so fierce that Otieno suffered a broken elbow.

    Lasith Malinga (Sri Lanka)

Lasith Malinga is known as one of the fastest bowlers in the world of cricket. During his early days, he was a menace with the ball. In the 2007 World Cup in the West Indies, Malinga scored his first hat-trick. While South Africa was trying to chase a total of 210 runs, Malinga smoothly changed the course of the match. Shaun Pollock was his first wicket, followed by Andrew Hall and Jacques Kallis.

Malinga did not stop there, and he went on to pick up the wicket of Makhaya Ntini and became the first player to take four wickets in four spells.

    JP Duminy (South Africa)

When it comes to World Cups, the South African cricket team has been extremely successful. In the 2015 World Cup in Australia, the South African team took on a very good Sri Lankan team in the quarter-finals. In this match, South Africa was on a roll, and they even managed to pick up two early wickets and put a lot of pressure on the Sri Lankan team. But that was only the beginning. When JP Duminy was introduced in the attack, the pressure reached the boiling point for the Sri Lankan team. Angelo Matthews was Duminy’s first wicket, and then he took two more wickets in a row. Duminy became the first South African to pick up a hat-trick.

So, bowlers are as important as batsmen when forming your fantasy cricket team because they can single-handedly change the course of the match.
