Border 2: Sunny Deol Remembers his Late Father Dharmendra, Gets Teary Eyed At The Event

On the ocassion of Vijay Diwas the JP Dutta production dropped the teaser for Border 2 that stars Sunny dEol, Ahaan Shetty, Diljit Dosanjh, Varun Dhawan among others. The event unfolded at a Mumbai suburb amidst huge fanfare and it saw the who’s who of B’Town in attendance.
While the team looked quite enthused and cheery for the teaser launch, what caught our eyes was the palpable emotions that Sunny Deol experienced as he remembered his late father Dharmendra who passed away recently.
This event marked the first time when Deol had stepped out publicly after the demise of his father on the 24th of November, 2026.
As the Border 2 actor voice acted the line from the film, “Awaaz Kaha Tak Jaani Chahiye?”, the frenzied audience cries of “Lahore Tak” echoed all over. However the quivering in his voice was perceptible as he struggled to hold back tears while delivering the line in front of the crowd.
It was on the 8th of December that Sunny had shared a post on Instagram to mark what would have been his father Dharmendra’s 90th birthday. In the throwback video one sees the garam Dharam sitting in the midst of the heavenly snow-capped mountains as he soaks up the nature that is all around him. We also hear a voice from behind that says, ” So papa, enjoying?” as Dharamji replies, ” I am really enjoying my son.”
Sunny captioned the video, “”Today is my father’s birthday. Papa is always with me, inside me. Love you, Papa. Miss you.”

Border 2 is directed by Anurag Singh and has been produced by JP Dutta. The film is a sequel to the 1997 super hit multi-starrer Border directed by Dutta himself. The war drama also stars Sonam Bajwa, Mona Singh, Medha Rana, Angad Singh, Guneet Sandhu and Paramvir Cheema in important roles. The film is set against the backdrop of the 1971 Indo-Pak war. the film is set to hit the theatres on the 23rd January 2026.
