The teaser for the Anurag Singh directorial and the JP Dutta production Border 2 was released yesterday amidst a huge fanfare. The event saw the presence of all the lead actors of the film and the makers of the film too! it surely was a moment to behold that latched on tenaciously to the nostalgia of the 1997 superhit film Border.
While the original film had a multitude of A list actors like Sunny Deol, Suniel Shetty, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Akshaye Khanna, Tabu, Pooja Bhatt, Rakhee Gulzar so on and so forth, the sequel stars, Sunny Deol, Ahan Shetty, Diljit Dosanjh, Varun Dhawan, Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa so on and so forth. And now, Ahan Suniel Shetty’s son has voiced his indebtedness for his upcoming role in the saga that depicts the 1971 Indo-Pak war. he also revealed what advice his father gave him before he began shooting for the film.
it was during the media interaction that Ahan shared how the original film and the sequel are connect emotionally and professionally. He stated that film was not just another project for him but a continuation of his father’s cinematic legacy. ” I would like to say that I am grateful for this opportunity. First of all, working with Varun sir. Sunny sir, an absolute legend who did Border 1 with my father (Suniel Shetty). So, I am also carrying that legacy forward,” he said.
He was also quite transparent in admitting that he did feel the pressure of living upto the expectations of the audiences because the first installment of Border is considered to be one of the iconic performances of his father Suniel. “”There is a certain type of pressure. That pressure will always be there. But as they say, a father is a father. So, if I can even be 10% of what my father was in that film. I think I will be able to do the character justice,” said Ahan Shetty.
This was also when Ahan opened up about the advice his dad gave him before he began shooting for the film and how he asked him to be real and authentic to the character he is supposed to portray in the film, “Just be honest with your role. Be honest with your character and just have fun. I would like to say that the first one or two days, I was petrified on set. I mean, my hands were shaking. Just being part of such a big film. I came to Tadap 4 years ago. I had a long gap. But again, like Papa had said. Just be honest. Just be yourself. Enjoy yourself. Don’t think too much about what people have to say. Or, don’t compare it to Border 1. That was the most important.”
Ahan shared a picture from the teaser launch of the film and wrote, “It’s been a long journey since my first film Tadap released four years ago. A journey of patience, growth, and self-belief. Coming back feels deeply personal, and being trusted with a film as powerful as Border 2 is an honour beyond words. Grateful, proud, and ready for what lies ahead.
