Brisbane: David Warner copped a nasty blow from Ben Stokes on the Second Day at the Gabba. He scored 94 and those runs helped the hosts set up a massive first innings total and get a mammoth 378-run lead, which eventually proved to be decisive in the final outcome of the match. Admitting that he really enjoyed it, Cummins mentioned that he was proud of the team and called it a ‘complete’ performance.
“Really enjoyed it, lot of things did go right probably from the toss, overcast conditions, wicket had a bit in it and to turn up on day 2 – under blue skies, someone’s smiling over me. Really proud of everyone. A really complete performance, the bowlers did everything on day 1 and Marnus-Davey with a big partnership and the way Travis played, it is a sign of a really positive group.
After the blow, Warner was absent at the start of England’s second innings in Brisbane, as he was still recovering from the pain.
He was spotted watching the game from the dressing room as Jhye Richardson took his place in the field.
