Rhea Chakraborty gets bail in a drug case, Bombay HC denies bail to brother Showik Chakraborty
In the most hyped case of Sushant Singh Rajput, Rhea was targeted by all three, agencies that are, Narcotics Bureau, CBI, and ED for her role in supplying drugs to the late actor. NCB alleged that Rhea was an active member of the drug syndicate, so, she should be put behind the bars. Satish Maneshinde who happens to be Rhea’s lawyer did try hard to roll out NCB’s statement by gaining emotional sympathy for her client but the court ruled out Rhea’s plea on 8th September and sent her under remand till 23 September. Showik was already under NCB’s remand and was questioned by them.
Rhea’s lawyer tried hard to get his client bailed out from the case but Rhea was denied bail from the session court along with her brother, and other employees of Sushant. Finally, after staying in Byculla Jail for a month or, so, she has been granted bail by Bombay High Court today along with the employees of Sushant Singh Rajput. But her brother Showik is denied bail by the court.
Rhea has alleged in her plea that Sushant Singh Rajput “took advantage of those closest to him to sustain his drug habit” and that she and her brother is sole targets of a witch-hunt. She also alleged that Sushant was quite happy after knowing that he would receive 14 crores for a movie and the plea also said that the actor was upset over a rift with his father.
Rhea is asked to submit Rs 1 lakh as a bond and mark her presence daily at the nearest police station for 10 days after her release. She can also not travel abroad without the court’s consent and to ensure this the court has asked her to submit the passport with the authorities.
Her lawyer has reacted to the Bombay High Court’s decision by saying, “The arrest and custody of Rhea was totally unwarranted and beyond the reach of the law. The hounding and witch-hunt by three central agencies, the CBI, Enforcement Directorate, and the Narcotics Control Bureau should come to an end. We remain committed to truth. Satyameva Jayate.”
