Actor Vipin Sharma has opened up about the challenges of typecasting in his career, discussing the personal and professional hurdles he faced during this period.
In an exclusive interview, the Taare Zameen Par actor revealed that he experienced a phase of four to five years where he consistently received similar role offers, which ultimately led to typecasting. Vipin acknowledged that this time was demanding, requiring significant inner strength and mental resilience to remain motivated.
When asked about the opportunities and challenges he encountered following his work in “Taare Zameen Par,” Vipin stated, “I faced typecasting for four to five years. It was difficult. I had to do a lot of mental work. But gradually, I performed varied roles, and that changed perceptions. I never stopped working or loving my craft.”
Discussing whether selecting diverse genres was a deliberate choice, he shared that he has ventured into horror, time travel, and drama. “It came naturally. People see your work and feel you suit certain roles. It works both ways. Sometimes you get work through your work, sometimes you approach. For example, I wasn’t initially part of Shahid. One day I met Anshul Mehta and told him I had heard about his film. That’s how I became part of it.”
Furthermore, Vipin reflected on the evolution of the industry, noting that the growth has been remarkable, with new shows, fresh writers, innovative directors, and talented cinematographers all gaining opportunities to showcase their work. He emphasized that OTT platforms have significantly contributed to this transformation, stating that without them, many artists would have had to wait years for their chances. He referred to OTT as a “beautiful blessing” that has opened doors for countless individuals in the industry.
Vipin Sharma remarked, “It is wonderful. New shows, new writers, new directors, new cinematographers — everyone is getting opportunities. Without OTT, people would have had to wait years. OTT is a beautiful blessing.”
