Manoj remarked, “Jaideep’s batch is considered the golden batch of the institute. Vijay Varma, Rajkummar Rao, Sunny Hinduja, and Jatin Goswami were all part of that remarkable group. So many talented artists emerged from that one batch.”

Jaideep expressed a special connection with Amitabh Bachchan, saying that their ties run deep due to their shared alma mater. “I may be meeting you today for the first time, sir, but in a way, my connection with your family is very old because I am a pass-out from the same institute that Jaya ji passed out from,” he shared.

Memories of Jaya Bachchan

He recalled how stories of Jaya Bachchan’s time as a student are woven into the fabric of the institute’s culture. Jaideep reminisced about seniors recounting tales of Jaya and her friends spending time in the old canteen, where students often returned simply to absorb those precious memories.

“People went there to study… we went there to listen,” Amitabh Bachchan added with a smile.

Suparn S Varma, director of the recently released film ‘Haq’, has come forward to defend fellow filmmaker Aditya Dhar.

Aditya has faced criticism due to the high level of violence depicted in the trailer for his upcoming movie ‘Dhurandhar’. Varma criticized the hypocrisy in the industry and among audiences, pointing out that they often shower praise on international films featuring similar gritty and violent sequences.

He highlighted the industry’s tendency to judge Indian films more harshly than foreign ones. With Aditya Dhar’s film set to hit theaters, Varma believes it’s time to end this bias.

In a detailed note on his Instagram Story, he expressed his astonishment at the discussions surrounding the violence in #Dhurandhar. He shared, “I’m just amazed by some of the chatter about the violence in #Dhurandhar the same viewers would have called it cinematic brilliance if this was in any other language or a Korean or Japanese film. It’s high time we started to celebrate Hindi cinema and its filmmakers with the same passion we celebrate all makers and films.”

He added, “Each filmmaker comes with his/her unique voice and identity and background. I have been left spellbound by the world and characters created by @adityadharfilms and his amazing team.”

Varma believes that the success of films like ‘Haq’ demonstrates that when we support our own storytellers with the same enthusiasm we reserve for global cinema, they can produce work that stands alongside the best.

Known for his political and intellectual awareness, he has previously discussed art’s political aspects. Varma stated, “I think every art serves a different purpose. When I say, ‘politics’, it is not related to just administration or the government per se.”

He elaborated on the concept of politics in various forms of art, citing that even comedy contains political elements. He mentioned iconic figures like Charlie Chaplin as examples of the politics of class divide. “Politics comes in comedy, Charlie Chaplin films are political. For instance, ‘The Tramp’ is the most political figure you will ever see, so it’s have and have nots,” he explained. He emphasized that where there is power, there is politics, which is present even in narratives surrounding family dynamics.

Meanwhile, ‘Haq’ has garnered a box office collection of INR 17.86 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.

In addition to ‘Swayambhu’, Nabha Natesh will star in director Abhishek Nama’s much-awaited pan-Indian film ‘Nagabandham’. This film features actors Virat Karn and Iswarya Menon alongside Nabha in lead roles and is expected to release early next year.

The cast will also include Jagapathi Babu, Jayaprakash, Murali Sharma, and B.S. Avinash in supporting roles.

‘Nagabandham’ delves into the hidden secrets of India’s ancient Vishnu temples, focusing specifically on the sacred practice of Nagabandham. Inspired by recent treasure discoveries at temples such as Padmanabhaswamy and Puri Jagannath, the film explores the captivating mythology surrounding these sites and the enigmatic rituals built to safeguard them. The story breathes new life into these age-old mysteries with a refreshing, modern narrative.

Cinematography for ‘Nagabandham’ is handled by Soundar Rajan S, with music by Abhe and Junaid Kumar. The dialogues are penned by Kalyan Chakravarthy, and editing is overseen by Santosh Kamireddy. Ashok Kumar serves as the art director.

The film will be released in multiple languages including Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam, and is shaping up to be an epic adventure under the tagline “The Secret Treasure.” Abhishek Nama has crafted both the story and screenplay and the project is produced by Kishore Annapureddy and Nishitha Nagireddy.

Zeenat added, “Because I had been typecast in a very westernised kind of image, it was a challenge for me to play something so different. So, yeah, I wanted to do it, and I did it, and my director said, ‘Shed your inhibitions and just be in every aspect of this character.’ And I tried.”

In addition to her cinematic achievements, Zeenat Aman is currently involved in narrating a compelling 10-part documentary series titled “Embers of Hope: The Fight for Our Future” for the Discovery Channel. On the work front, Sonam last appeared in the 2023 film “Blind,” a crime thriller directed by Shome Makhija. As a remake of the 2011 Korean original, “Blind” followed the story of a visually impaired police officer determined to apprehend a serial killer.

This film marked Sonam’s return to acting after stepping back to focus on motherhood and family life following the birth of her son. Sonam welcomed her first child, son Vayu, on August 20, 2022.

Sonam was also slated to star in the film adaptation of Anuja Chauhan’s novel “Battle for Bittora,” but the project has been stalled for several years. Produced by her sister Rhea Kapoor, this film was envisioned as a blend of romance and politics, with Sonam portraying an aspiring politician alongside Fawad Khan.
