Ace filmmaker Ayan Mukerji remembered his late father, Deb Mukherjee, on his first birth anniversary with a heartfelt social media post.

A Legacy in Film
For those unfamiliar, Deb Mukherjee hailed from a cinematic lineage. His mother, Satidevi, was the only sister of iconic brothers Ashok Kumar, Anup Kumar, and Kishore Kumar. He was also the brother of actor Joy Mukherjee and filmmaker Shomu Mukherjee.
Deb Mukherjee was married twice, with a daughter, Sunita, from his first marriage—who is married to director Ashutosh Gowariker. Ayan is his son from his second marriage.
Career Highlights
Deb Mukherjee began his career in the 1960s, appearing in minor roles before evolving into a supporting actor in notable films such as “Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander” and “King Uncle.” His last appearance was a cameo in Vishal Bhardwaj’s 2009 drama “Kaminey.”
