Punjabi singer-actress Shehnaaz Gill recently had a charming “little desi moment” as she took the mic for a karaoke session in a “non-desi cafe” in Canada, performing the title track of the film “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.”
Shehnaaz shared a delightful video on Instagram, where she can be seen checking with the audience if she sounded okay before diving into the song. She captioned the post, “Little desi moment in a very non-desi café… unprofessional singers.”
“Ae Dil Hai Mushkil,” directed by Karan Johar, features lead roles played by Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Fawad Khan, with supporting characters portrayed by Lisa Haydon and Imran Abbas. The film, set in cities like London, Paris, Vienna, and Lucknow, delves into themes of unrequited love, friendship, heartbreak, and emotional intimacy as it follows the interconnected lives of Ayan, Alizeh, Saba, and Ali.
This film also marked Karan Johar’s return to direction after “Student of the Year,” earning praise for its emotionally charged narrative and polished visual aesthetic.
In terms of her recent work, Shehnaaz’s latest release is “Ikk Kudi,” which tells the story of a woman from a family of broken hearts who begins to doubt her arranged marriage match and embarks on a journey to uncover her fiancé’s mysterious past.
Shehnaaz started her modelling career in 2015 with the music video “Shiv Di Kitaab” and made her acting debut in the Punjabi film “Sat Shri Akaal England” in 2017. However, it was her participation in the 13th season of Bigg Boss that catapulted her to fame, eventually leading to opportunities with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan and numerous other projects.
Her filmography includes titles such as “Kala Shah Kala,” “Daaka,” “Honsla Rakh,” “Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan,” and “Thank You for Coming.”
Shehnaaz has also featured in various popular music videos, including “Maar Kar Gayi,” “Pindaan Diyaan Kudiyaan,” “Je Haan Ni Karni,” “Putt Sardaran De,” “Lakh Laanhta,” “Viah Da Chaa,” “Jatt Jaan Vaarda,” “Gusse Ho Ke Nahiyo Sarna,” “Jatti Hadd Sekhdi,” “Gunday Ik Vaar Fer,” “Peg Paun Wele,” “Gedi Route,” “Shona Shona,” and “Habit.”
