Michael B. Jordan Picks Eddie Murphy’s Iconic Vampire as His Favorite at Gotham Awards!

Hollywood actor Michael B. Jordan recently shared his favourite pop culture vampire while attending the Gotham Awards in New York City.

A Nostalgic Choice

Jordan picked Eddie Murphy’s character from the 1995 vampire horror comedy Vampire in Brooklyn, which flew into theaters in the mid-1990s. The film has a memorable trailer line: “The world’s last vampire is about to encounter something infinitely more terrifying than himself, Brooklyn,” delivered by the narrator.

In Vampire in Brooklyn, Murphy, now 64, stars as the undead vampire, who seeks to turn Angela Bassett’s Detective Rita Veder into his eternal lover.

Jordan’s New Role

Thirty years after Murphy’s iconic portrayal, Jordan is adding to the vampire genre with his film Sinners, which is currently vying for Oscar consideration. In Sinners, the 38-year-old actor portrays twins Elijah ‘Smoke’ Moore and Elias ‘Stack’ Moore as they defend their hometown from invading vampires. The story, set in the 1930s, sees one of the twins ultimately succumbing to a vampire bite, transforming into a vampire himself.

Sinners is available for streaming on Max and can be purchased on Prime Video, Fandango At Home, and Apple TV.

From Actor to Director

Michael B. Jordan first gained recognition for his role in Fruitvale Station, later achieving global fame as Adonis Creed in the Creed franchise and Erik Killmonger in Marvel’s Black Panther. He is known for his intense, athletic performances and his collaborations with director Ryan Coogler.

In addition to acting, Jordan made his directorial debut with Creed III and has been involved in producing projects through his company, Outlier Society, which champions inclusive storytelling and promotes diversity initiatives within the industry.
