Actor Jackie Shroff paid homage to the legendary tabla maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain on his first death anniversary, honoring his immense contribution to Indian classical music.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest tabla players of his generation, Ustad Zakir Hussain was not only a master percussionist but also a pioneer in bringing Indian classical music to a global stage. His work spanned multiple genres, significantly enriching the world of music.
His accolades include receiving the prestigious National Heritage Fellowship from the United States National Endowment for the Arts, the highest honor for traditional artists and musicdigihunt. In India, he was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1990, followed by the Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowship, Ratna Sadsya, in 2018. Over his illustrious career, he received nine Grammy Award nominations, winning four times, including three in 2024.
Ustad Zakir Hussain passed away on December 15, 2024, in San Francisco, California, due to complications from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. He was 73 years old.
