Hollywood star Hugh Jackman once experienced a memorable sleepover at the home of singer-songwriter Neil Diamond, and the details have recently emerged.
The actor shared that not only did he enjoy karaoke with Neil Diamond, but he also spent the night at the iconic musician’s residence. This unique occasion stemmed from an emotional phone call, as reported by ‘People’ magazine.
At 84 years old, Diamond warmly welcomed Jackman, 57, who plays Mike Sardina—the other half of the Diamond tribute band ‘Lightning & Thunder’ in his latest film ‘Song Sung Blue’—into his Colorado home. The invitation followed Diamond’s heartfelt reaction to the film, which Jackman discussed during a screening in New York City.
During the same event, both Jackman and his co-star Kate Hudson, who plays Mike’s wife and bandmate Claire, reminisced about meeting Diamond. Hudson, 46, revealed that she first encountered the legendary singer during a Q&A session at the 92nd Street Y. When asked whether they had met Diamond, she recounted how she connected with him before Jackman, claiming he had the “karaoke night and sleepover.”
“I grew up in Colorado,” Hudson told the audience. “Neil is in Colorado, and we lived 10 minutes from each other. Never met him, never seen him. It was just so weird. I heard that he had seen the movie and got very emotional and loved it. I called (Focus Features) and asked if they could reach out to see if I could visit.”
Hudson also noted that she and Diamond exchanged “all kinds of stories” during their meet-up in October, sharing photos of the encounter.
“They just invited me over, and I sat on the porch to have lemonade. Then I took a picture and sent it to Hugh, and he was like, ‘I think I’m gonna go to Colorado’,” she added.
