As his film “Tanvi The Great” makes its return to theatres, veteran actor Anupam Kher emphasizes his firm belief in the power of second chances, both in life and cinema.

Anupam took to Instagram to share a heartfelt video discussing this theme.

“Namaste friends, what I want to share with you, I believe in second chances a lot. In life, second chances are sometimes better than the first chance. Many people may not know that life gave me a second chance before I came into the film career,” he shared.

Recalling a pivotal moment in his journey, Anupam, who has starred in over 500 films, reflected on how he was removed from Mahesh Bhatt’s Saaransh just 10 days before shooting, with Sanjeev Kumar taking his place.

“I was working in Saaransh, and I was fired from the film 10 days before the shooting. And Sanjeev Kumar sir was hired. Then I went to Mr. Mahesh Bhatt and fought with him. I told him ‘You are making a film on truth. I have been rehearsing for this film for 6 months. How can you fire me now?’ I fought a lot and cried a lot,” Anupam recounted.

Fortunately, he received another opportunity.

“And today I have been working in films for 40 years. I have done almost 500–550 films. Now what I believe in the second chance is that we are releasing our film Tanvi The Great again. Initially, this film was ignored by some people. Some did not even know that this film was released,” he noted.

He added, “Those who saw it, they liked it very much. It received very good reviews and praise. We did its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, and then showcased it in New York. We presented it to President Sahiba, the Army Chief, Delhi Chief Minister, and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, all of whom appreciated it.”

Anupam mentioned that throughout his career, he has received limited recognition as a person, entertainer, director, and actor.

“In this film, we introduced a new talent, Shubhangi Dutt. The more we praise her work, the less it is. This is not just as a director but as a teacher of acting at Actor Prepares. It is one of the finest performances you will notice in the last few years,” he stated.

He described the film as one centered around the themes of the Army’s fame, and the bond between a grandfather, granddaughter, mother, and daughter—highlighting how a mother empowers her autistic daughter.

“The film is about goodness and brotherhood,” he emphasized. Anupam also praised the exceptional music by M.M. Keeravani.

“The film features talented individuals like Jackie Shroff, Arvind Swamy, Boman Irani, Pallavi Joshi, E. N. Glenn, and others. So, this film deserves another chance. We are set to release it again on the 26th in 17 cities. I request you to please go and watch it. I guarantee you will love it. Make this second chance count and believe in it,” he urged.

Tanvi The Great stars Jackie Shroff, Arvind Swami, Boman Irani, Pallavi Joshi, Karan Tacker, Nasser, with Anupam Kher and Iain Glen. The film boasts the talent of two Oscar winners, music director M.M. Keeravani and sound designer Resul Pookutty. The cinematographer is Keiko Nakahara from Japan.

The story revolves around a 21-year-old woman on the autism spectrum, living with her mother and grandfather. Inspired by her deceased father, Captain Samar Raina, an Indian Army officer, she dreams of saluting the flag at Siachen Glacier.

As veteran actress Tanuja turned 82, Jackie Shroff penned a heartfelt message that resonated with her superstar daughter, Kajol.
