The makers of director S. Manibharathi’s upcoming thriller, “The Bed,” featuring actors Srikanth and Srushti Dange in the lead roles, have announced plans to release the film in January next year.

The project, produced by V. Vijayakumar on behalf of Srinidhi Productions, has received a significant boost with Anjaneya Productions from Coimbatore stepping in to release it.

Featuring a talented cast, “The Bed” includes John Vijay, Black Pandi, Pappu, and Devi Priya in impactful supporting roles.

Sources indicate that “The Bed,” written and directed by S. Manibharathi—known for notable films like “Vettu Vettu” and “Parivarthanai”—explores a new genre, aiming to deliver a unique cinematic experience to audiences.

The film has been shot against the stunning backdrop of the Nilgiris, showcasing deep forest trails shrouded in mist and expansive, tranquil tea estates.

Promising an entirely refreshing cinematic sensibility, “The Bed” takes a novel approach: instead of a conventional human protagonist, the story unfolds through the silent gaze of a bed positioned inside a secluded cottage in Ooty. This bed serves as a witness to the personal storms and secret longings of the lives it supports.

Director S. Manibharathi shared his insights on the film, stating, “Producer Vijayakumar and our lead actor Srikanth are truly the greatest blessings this film has given me. When Anjaneya Productions’ K. Kandasamy and K. Ganesan watched the film, they immediately came forward to release it. For that, I remain deeply grateful. Releasing right at the dawn of a New Year, ‘The Bed’ will arrive as a celebration for audiences. We shot romantic sequences in the midnight frost of Ooty, which was brutally challenging due to climatic conditions, yet the results have become some of the film’s most cherished moments.”

He further emphasized, “What excites me most is the originality of our narrative. Rather than a human telling the story, the screenplay unfolds through the gaze of a bed inside a cottage—a silent witness to human joy, sorrow, love, and secrets. The film’s technical prowess shines through with the artistry of cinematographer K. Gokul, music composer Taj Noor, lyricist Yugabharathi, editor J. P., and art director Palanivel, alongside production executive A. V. Palanisamy.

Director Sukumar’s blockbuster film ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule,’ starring Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil, is set to release in Japan on January 16 next year.

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has cleared director A R Jeeva’s gripping drama, ‘Lockdown’, featuring actress Anupama Parameswaran in the lead, for release with a ‘U/A’ certificate.

Anticipation Builds for ‘Lockdown’

‘Lockdown’ is a woman-centric film that has generated significant expectations, as it is based on a true story.

The trailer begins with Anupama Parameswaran, who plays the character Anitha, expressing her fear about going home. It is clear that she is dealing with a problem she cannot discuss with her family, further complicated by unwanted advances from men.

Amid these challenges, a 21-day nationwide lockdown is announced to control the spread of COVID, forcing Anitha to remain at home.

Anitha’s behavior raises concerns for her parents, particularly when her mother notices that she frequently checks her phone and loses her temper. The trailer also shows Anitha and her friend trying to get in touch with a doctor, who has become isolated after contracting the virus.

In a desperate move, Anitha starts calling her friends to borrow money, alarming her parents, who question her about these requests.

The trailer concludes with Anitha apologizing to her father, promising not to repeat her actions.
