    About “Grease”

“Grease” marks the directorial debut of Randal Kleiser and is based on the 1972 stage musical by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey. The story follows greaser Danny Zuko and Australian transfer student Sandy Olsson as they navigate their summer romance.

The film was both a critical and commercial success, becoming the highest-grossing musical film at its release. A sequel, “Grease 2,” hit theaters in 1982, featuring Maxwell Caulfield and Michelle Pfeiffer as part of a new generation of greasers.

Though only a few original cast members reprised their roles, the franchise expanded in 2023 with a short-lived prequel television series titled “Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies,” which aired on Paramount+ for just one season.

  • Shekhar Kapur Reveals New Update on ‘Paani’: “A Film Has Its Own Will”

Shekhar Kapur Reveals New Update on ‘Paani’: “A Film Has Its Own Will”

Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra engaged in an insightful discussion during a session at IFFI 2025, focusing on Kapur’s much-anticipated and delayed film, ‘Paani’.

When questioned about the status of the movie, Shekhar Kapur remarked, “A film has its own will too. I am not the only decision-maker. A film, in itself, becomes a decision-maker.” He elaborated, “Sometimes the film tells me, ‘You have to stop everything else and make this,’ and I simply follow that. So when you ask that question, you should ask the film as well — ‘Bhaiya, tum kab banogi?’”

Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra added to Kapur’s sentiments by stating, “Paani is being made. When a writer and a director, or in this case, both, like Shekhar Kapur, start creating it, he’s already making it by writing and shaping it. Whether it will be made physically is a separate matter, but creatively, he’s already making and remaking it many times.”

He continued, “And as he said, when something is meant to happen, it happens. We have been told this many times.”

‘Paani’ has long been one of Bollywood’s most discussed unmade films, with its concept circulating for over a decade. Shekhar Kapur initially developed the script around 2010–2011.

Throughout the years, the film encountered various phases of pre-production, with multiple studios showing interest to some extent, but nothing ever came to fruition. The project gained significant attention when late actor Sushant Singh Rajput was cast as the lead. Sushant dedicated considerable time to prepare for the film, focusing on fitness, acting workshops, and immersing himself in the world his character inhabited.

Unfortunately, the film’s production faced delays due to creative and financial disputes between Shekhar Kapur and the producing studio. Despite numerous delays, the project failed to regain momentum in the same capacity. The shocking demise of Sushant Singh Rajput further complicated the film’s future.

Sudesh Lehri Thanks Amitabh Bachchan for Inspiring His Comedy Journey on KBC!

This week on the popular quiz reality show Kaun Banega Crorepati, celebrated actor-comeddigihunt Sudesh Lehri and Kiku Sharda will grace the coveted hot seat alongside the legendary host, Amitabh Bachchan.

    A Heartfelt Episode

The episode promises to deliver not just a game, but a series of light-hearted conversations, fun-filled moments, and some profoundly shocking revelations that will captivate the audience. Sudesh Lehri, one of India’s most beloved comic entertainers, opens up about the hardships of his childhood with poignant honesty.

    Sudesh’s Inspiring Confession

Lehri revealed, “When I was a child, I never went to school, not even nursery. We were very poor.” In an emotionally charged moment, he paid a heartfelt tribute to the cinematic icon, sharing that Amitabh Bachchan was his unseen inspiration who unknowingly guided his artistic journey.

Reflecting on his challenging upbringing, Lehri shared, “I was always fond of watching films. The first time I ever went to a theatre, someone took me because I didn’t have the money, and the film I watched was ‘Shankar Shambhu’. After a long time, I saw ‘Ganga Ki Saugand’, your film, where you had that small hand scene. Then ‘Namak Halaal’ came, and because I loved comedy, I used to watch you again and again.” He fondly recalled, “We even got the videocassette of the same.”

    Memorable Moments from Films

He reminisced about iconic moments, saying, “Then there was the song ‘Ke Pag Ghunghroo Bandh Meera’… the scene where you dance with slippers… and of course Amar Akbar Anthony, the mirror scene. Sir, everyone knows you as the angry young man, but I have learnt comedy from you. Whatever I write or perform, it comes from watching you. There is no film of yours that I haven’t seen. I remember the dialogue of all your films.”

    Amitabh’s Warm Acknowledgment

In response, Amitabh Bachchan warmly acknowledged Sudesh’s journey and recounted a nostalgic anecdote from his early days shooting in Rishikesh. He added, “Since you talked about Ganga Ki Saugand. It was shot in the 60s and 70s, and it was shot in Rishikesh.”

The exchange between these two artists served as a powerful reminder of how cinema inspires, heals, and shapes generations, often in ways the actors themselves are unaware of.

Celina Jaitly Urges Media: Keep Our Kids’ Photos Out of News Coverage!

Actor Celina Jaitly has made a heartfelt appeal to photographers and media outlets not to publish pictures of her children in any news related to her legal matters.

In a note shared publicly, she wrote, “DEAR MEMBERS OF THE MEDIA, I HUMBLY REQUEST YOU TO PLEASE REFRAIN FROM USING MY CHILDREN’S PHOTOGRAPHS IN ANY NEWS COVERAGE REGARDING MY LEGAL CASES. I WILL BE FOREVER GRATEFUL FOR YOUR SENSITIVITY AND UNDERSTANDING. A MOTHER WITH A BROKEN HEART CELINA JAITLEY.”

Recently, Celina approached a Mumbai court, accusing her husband, Austrian businessman Peter Haag, of inflicting severe emotional, physical, verbal, and financial abuse.

On social media, she expressed her emotions, stating, “#courage #divorce | In the middle of the strongest, most turbulent storm of my life, I never imagined I would spend it fighting alone, without any parents, without any support system. I never thought there would come a day without all the pillars on which the roof of my world once rested: my parents, my brother, my children & the one who promised to stand by me, love me, care for me & bear every trouble with me (sic).”

Celina further shared, “Life stripped everything away… People I trusted walked away… Promises I believed in broke in silence… But the storm did not drown me. It delivered me… It tossed me out of violent waters onto warm sands… It forced me to meet the woman inside me who refuses to die.”

A few weeks ago, she also sought help from a Delhi court regarding her brother, Major (retired) Vikrant Jaitly, asserting that he has been “illegally abducted and detained” in the United Arab Emirates.

Reflecting on her marital journey, Celina married entrepreneur and hotelier Peter Haag on August 23, 2011, in a court ceremony. The couple welcomed their first set of twin sons, Winston and Viraaj, in 2012 and later had another set of twin boys, Shamsher and Arthur, in 2017. Tragically, they lost their newborn twin, Shamsher, the same year.

  • IFFI 2025: Ramesh Sippy Reveals What Made Sholay’s Jai-Veeru an Iconic Duo

IFFI 2025: Ramesh Sippy Reveals What Made Sholay’s Jai-Veeru an Iconic Duo

Filmmaker Ramesh Sippy, known for delivering Bollywood’s iconic “Sholay,” recently revealed intriguing insights about the beloved characters Jay and Veeru, their friendship, and what led the film to earn cult classic status.

    The Heart of Friendship

At a festival, Sippy remarked, “The best way to begin is with that iconic song, ‘Yeh dosti hum nahi todenge, todenge dum agar, tera saath na chhodenge.’ It’s a wonderful song written by Anand Bakshi and set to music by R.D. Burman.” He emphasized the significance of teamwork in filmmaking, saying, “As I have always said, every member of the unit – the technicdigihunt, the musicdigihunt, everyone – is important to a film like this, or to any film for that matter. As the captain of the ship, I can assure you that no film can be made without teamwork.”

    A Team Effort

Sippy further stated, “But you also need a good captain, and you need strong key people around you: the writers, the technicdigihunt, the cameramen, the music team, and of course the background score. RD Burman did a marvellous job with that!” He noted, “From the very first frame, you can feel the impact of the land you are entering and the kind of film you are about to experience. For the first time in India, we even had the fight team come from outside the country, from the UK, adding a whole new dimension to the film’s scale and execution.”

For those unaware, Sippy’s session, titled “50 years of Sholay: Why Sholay still resonates,” highlighted lesser-known facts about the film.

    The Iconic Gabbar

During the discussion, he also shared details about casting the late supervillain Amjad Khan as the infamous Gabbar. “Amjad Khan himself was a discovery. I had seen him earlier in a play with my sister about South Africa, and I remembered he was a good actor, but I had completely forgotten about him.” He elaborated, “When Salim–Javed suggested we look at him, it clicked. He came in for the part, but only because Danny Denzongpa, who was originally signed for Gabbar, was in Afghanistan shooting with Feroz Khan and couldn’t return. We didn’t have to make changes anywhere because of the language or accent; especially for Gabbar, Amjad’s UP-style accent worked beautifully.”

Sippy concluded, “Danny’s absence gave birth to Amjad Khan as Gabbar, and the rest is history.”

    Sholay: A Timeless Classic

Talking about “Sholay,” the film starred Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Sanjeev Kumar, Amjad Khan, Jaya Bachchan, and Hema Malini in pivotal roles. Released in 1975, it is now considered one of the most iconic movies of all time, though it was initially declared a flop.

The movie has gifted audiences memorable songs and unforgettable characters like Jay, Veeru, Basanti, Thakur, and Gabbar, all of whom remain some of Bollywood’s finest on-screen personas even after 50 years.
