The makers of director Rahul Sadasivan’s much-anticipated horror thriller, ‘Dies Irae’, featuring actor Pranav Mohanlal in the lead role, have just released a brand new trailer, thrilling fans and film enthusiasts alike.
Exciting Trailer Launch
Pranav Mohanlal shared the link to the trailer on his X timeline, stating, “#DIESIRAE Release Trailer. IN CINEMAS WORLDWIDE FROM OCT 31!”
The Censor Board has granted the film an ‘A’ certificate, allowing it to hit theaters on October 31.
Sinister Vibes in the Trailer
The newly released trailer opens with Pranav anxiously scanning his surroundings. Eerie scenes unfold as a voiceover ominously intones, “The mighty trumpet’s wondrous tone shall rend each tomb’s sepulchral stone and summon all before the throne. Both heaven and earth will lie in ashes. Full of tears and full of dread is that day that wakes the dead.”
Since the first announcement, the film has generated substantial excitement, particularly following a prior trailer that piqued fans’ interest.
Intriguing Plot Dynamics
In the first trailer, an elderly woman tells a man he should have spoken up about his concerns regarding a child. The man hesitantly questions how he could inform others about his feelings, fearing judgment. The elderly woman responds, “And now, didn’t that feeling turn out to be true?”
This child, discussed by the couple, is portrayed by Pranav Mohanlal. The trailer reveals that he plays the only son of a family believed to be cursed by their neighbors, experiencing strange occurrences while feeling unable to share his fears as no one would believe him.
Halloween Release
Based on true incidents, ‘Dies Irae’ is set to be released on Halloween this year.
Creative Team Behind the Film
The film has sparked significant interest due to its production team, which is the same as that of the Malayalam cult classic, ‘Brammayugam’, featuring superstar Mammootty.
Interestingly, ‘Dies Irae’ commenced filming in the last week of March this year at Vadakara in Calicut. Sources had reported that the makers aimed to finish shooting in just 40 days, but they wrapped up the entire film by April, exceeding expectations.
Shehnad Jalal, recognized for his work on ‘Brammayugam’, serves as the cinematographer for this new project. The art direction is managed by Jothish Shankar, also from ‘Brammayugam’, and editing is undertaken by Shafique Mohammed Ali, who also excelled in editing the previous film.
A Glimpse into ‘Bramayugam’
Director Rahul Sadasivan’s ‘Bramayugam’ was a critically acclaimed success, set in Kerala’s dark ages with a focus on three male characters. The film was shot in black and white and starred Mammootty alongside Sidharth Bharathan, Arjun Ashokan, and Amalda Liz. The poignant dialogues were penned by renowned Malayalam novelist TD Ramakrishnan, famous for his novel, Francis Itty Cora.
