Vidya Malavade: Embrace the Power of Yoga by Being ‘Fully Present’

Actress Vidya Malavade believes that yoga is all about being ‘fully present’ in the moment.

The ‘Chak De! India’ star recently shared a video of her yoga session on her official Instagram. In the clip, she was practising the ‘Fall and Rise’ pose. Vidya candidly revealed that she fell twice while attempting the asana, but successfully mastered it on her third try.

Sharing her thoughts on the unpredictability of daily practice, she wrote, “This practice is truly humbling after decades of acing this tradition… today I fell… twice over! Sure we aced it on the third go. Everyday is different… Body mind feels differently and as long as there is no ego, falling or rising all is well.”

She added in the caption, “My practice is my Guru… my lifeline… And it is truly humbling… Progressing or regressing… it’s all about coming back on my mat and being fully present (evil eye emoji) was wonderful to practice with fellow Yogi @jayseaswell at @theglustudio.”

Vidya enjoys sharing her journey towards well-being with her Instagram family. Previously, in September, she shared her shower affirmation to ward off negative energy.

She disclosed that she hasn’t used soap on her skin for the last decade but her skin remains as soft as ever. Her ritual involves wetting the skin, taking a spoonful of salt, and adding a few drops of water to create a paste. She applies this paste all over her body, steps out of the shower for 30 seconds, and recites her affirmation: “Thank you for taking away any intentional and unintentional Nazar coming towards me and mine… And anything that doesn’t serve me!”

After the affirmation, she recommends stepping back into the shower and visualising the water washing away the salt along with any aches, pains, worries, anxiety, anger, etc., going down the drain.

Vidya advises doing this ritual every month for ten consecutive days, followed by a break, as salt can lead to dry skin.
