Steven Spielberg’s new sci-fi film ‘Disclosure Day’ arrives in cinemas this summer. Curious?

Filmmaker Steven Spielberg is gearing up for his new film, ‘Disclosure Day’, which is slated for a summer release.

The iconic director is making his return with this sci-fi epic, marking his first project since 2022’s The Fabelmans. The film features a stellar cast, including Josh O’Connor, Emily Blunt, Colman Domingo, Wyatt Russell, and Eve Hewson, as reported by Female First UK.

Intriguing Plot

The logline for ‘Disclosure Day’ reads: “If you found out we weren’t alone, if someone showed you, proved it to you, would that frighten you? This summer, the truth belongs to seven billion people. We are coming close to, ‘Disclosure Day’.”

Spielberg collaborates once again with screenwriter David Koepp for this production. The duo has previously teamed up on classics like Jurassic Park, Jurassic Park: The Lost World, War of the Worlds, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. At 78, Spielberg is also returning to the subject of UFOs, having pioneered the genre in 1977 with Close Encounters of the Third Kind. He revisited it with E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial in 1982 and War of the Worlds in 2005.

Teasers and Trailer Insights

Recently, billboards in Los Angeles and New York hinted at the tagline ‘all will be disclosed’ before the trailer was unveiled this week. Filming took place in and around New Jersey, but specific plot details have been kept tightly under wraps.

In the trailer, Blunt portrays a meteorologist overtaken by a mysterious extraterrestrial force during an on-air weather report. Meanwhile, Josh’s character is on a mission to unveil the truth about alien life to the world.

While the teaser doesn’t reveal much, it features eerie-looking animals and crop circles, suggesting hints of extraterrestrial life. One character notably states, “People have a right to know the truth, it belongs to seven billion people.”

Another character poses a thought-provoking question: “Why would (God) make such a vast universe, but save it only for us?” Spielberg has expressed his openness to the idea of extraterrestrial life, stating, “I don’t believe we’re alone in the universe. I think it’s mathematically impossible that we are the only intelligent species in the cosmos.”

Release Date

‘Disclosure Day’ is set to hit cinemas on June 12, 2026.
