Bollywood actress Sonali Bendre, in a candid chat with star couple Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa, opened up about how her real-life personality contrasts sharply with her character, Preeti, from Hum Saath Saath Hain.
A Stark Contrast
“I am nothing of that sort. Not like that at all,” Sonali remarked, playfully questioning Bharti, “Don’t you know me?”
During the lively conversation on the podcast hosted by Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa, Sonali’s portrayal of a calm and soft-spoken Preeti was discussed. Bharti reflected on how the actress appeared “lovely, innocent and absolutely calm” on screen.
Breaking the Stereotype
Sonali quickly clarified that she is nothing like the character she portrayed in the film. The Dahek actress confidently stated her real-life personality is far more assertive and strong. “I am a very opinionated person. I have an opinion on everything. I am nothing like that character,” she emphasized.
For those unfamiliar, Sonali Bendre played Preeti, a doctor known for her empathy, maturity, and shyness, in the superhit movie Hum Saath Saath Hain, which was released 26 years ago in 1999 and directed by Sooraj Barjatya.
A Major Hit
Sonali’s character was paired opposite Prem, played by Bollywood superstar Salman Khan. The film went on to become one of the biggest hits of its time, featuring a stellar cast that included Mohnish Behl, Tanu, Saif Ali Khan, Karisma Kapoor, Alok Nath, the late Reema Lagoo, the late Satish Shah, the late Sadashiv Amrapurkar, Neelam Kothari, and Mahesh Thakur.
