Canadian actor Simu Liu is running out of patience. Eager to don his superhero suit once more, he is excited to reprise his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, particularly in the upcoming ‘Avengers: Doomsday’.
Currently on a press tour for his latest film, ‘In Your Dreams’, Liu expressed his thoughts to ‘People’ magazine. He shared, “It means everything. It’s such a privilege to have played a character that resonated with so many different people.”
Liu praised the fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), emphasizing that he is “always gonna be beyond grateful” for their continuous support, which has significantly propelled his career. He added, “Part of that is like getting to put the suit back on again, except with these incredible legendary actors, many of whom I grew up idolizing and worshiping. Now, I get to call them my co-workers.”
‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is set to reunite a diverse range of characters from the franchise, similar to the extensive cast featured in 2018’s ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and 2019’s ‘Avengers: Endgame’. According to the reports, Robert Downey Jr. will return to the Marvel fold, not as Iron Man, but as the main villain Doctor Doom. Other popular stars set to reprise their roles include Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Danny Ramirez, Paul Rudd, Tom Hiddleston, and Letitia Wright. The film will also incorporate characters from the Thunderbolts and X-Men movies.
Despite the excitement, Liu’s fans have been disappointed; Shang-Chi has not appeared in any Marvel films since his introduction in the acclaimed ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ four years ago. “You’re not the only one that’s kind of felt that absence. Somebody tells me in some way, shape or form, I’m not kidding you, I’m not being hyperbolic, every single day of my life and oftentimes multiple times in a day,” he remarked.
Additionally, Liu revealed that the Shang-Chi cast stays in regular contact, maintaining their bond even off-screen.
