Hollywood actor Simu Liu recently sought some assistance from pop icon Taylor Swift regarding his proposal to Allison Hsu.
The 36-year-old Marvel star got engaged to his partner in Paris earlier this year. He shared how the ‘Life of a Showgirl’ singer made the moment even more special, according to reports.
An Emotional Connection
During his appearance on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,’ Simu explained, “My fiancée works in music; she’s a digital marketing executive, and she grew up a Swiftie. She loves Taylor Swift. Taylor Swift’s songs and her music were a big part of getting to know (my fiancée), and why they meant so much to her.”
Reaching Out to Taylor
Simu expressed that if there was one person who could make the engagement memorable, it would be Taylor. He reached out to her through her publicist, saying, “Hey, is there any way that I could convince you to make a two-second video just to say congrats?”
Just a couple of days later, Simu was thrilled when the Anti-Hero hitmaker delivered on his request, adding the perfect touch to his proposal. He remarked, “She literally, two days later, sent it over, and I was able to play it for her. Taylor Swift was the cherry on top! She is just so nice and sweet.”
An Unforgettable Reaction
Simu, who is best known for his role as Shang-Chi in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, revealed that Allison “completely lost it” when she saw the congratulatory video. “She was really emotional before, but when I played that video, she just completely lost it. She went into shock,” he said.
Simu announced their engagement in May this year, sharing photos of them in front of the Eiffel Tower and showcasing his partner’s ring.
