Veteran actress Shabana Azmi extended her heartfelt wishes by tweeting “Salgirah mubarak” to her ‘Masoom’ director, Shekhar Kapur, as he celebrated his birthday. On this special occasion, Shabana highlighted the intriguing contrast in Shekhar’s personality—his restlessness combined with an inherent creativity, yet never seeming to be in a hurry.
Shabana expressed her desire for Shekhar to continue his journey as a seeker, emphasizing that life revolves around the quest for answers. Her thoughtful birthday message on social media read: “Salgirah mubarak @kapurshekhar restless, ever seeking, creative but a man not in a hurry! The paradox makes you all the more interesting. Jeete raho khush raho and may you remain the seeker .. because when we think we know all the answers that’s the time to begin again (sic).”
She humorously added, “I hope I’m sounding as philosophical as you” followed by a smiling emoji.
Beyond their professional collaboration, Shabana and Shekhar share a deep personal bond. Their rapport on the set of “Masoom” led to speculation about their seven-year relationship, which included a reported live-in phase. However, they ultimately chose to part ways.
Excitingly, the two have reunited for the much-anticipated sequel, “Masoom 2.” In 2024, Shekhar announced this new project during a press conference at the 55th International Film Festival of India in New Delhi, revealing that the script is ready and production will commence soon.
He noted that “Masoom: The Next Generation” will introduce a fresh storyline while preserving the elements that made the original a monumental success. In addition to bringing back Shabana and Naseeruddin Shah from the iconic 1983 film, the sequel will also feature Manoj Bajpayee, Nithya Menen, and Shekhar’s daughter Kaveri Kapur in pivotal roles.
