The makers of director Rahul Ravindran’s highly anticipated film, “The Girlfriend,” featuring actress Rashmika Mandanna alongside actor Dheekshith Shetty, have released the trailer to the excitement of fans and film enthusiasts.
Geetha Arts, the production house behind the film, shared on their X timeline, “Not all love stories are fairy tales. Some are a reality check that leaves you thinking. #TheGirlfriendTrailer (Telugu) out now! #TheGirlfriend in cinemas on November 7th.”
The film is set to debut on November 7 this year.
The newly released trailer starts with Rashmika’s character, Bhooma, hesitantly suggesting to her boyfriend Vikram that they take a break—clarifying that she means a proper one. It then shifts to a scene where Vikram proposes, stating, “There is an auspicious time day after tomorrow. Let’s get married.” While Vikram believes Bhooma is the perfect person for him, she appears uncertain and is shown addressing him only reluctantly as her boyfriend.
Anu Emmanuel’s character emerges as a skeptic in the relationship, questioning Bhooma’s happiness with Vikram. She points out that although Bhooma is ideal for Vikram, he may not be the right match for her.
The trailer paints Vikram as a dominating and selfish individual, while Bhooma is depicted as a victim trapped in a toxic relationship, struggling to find a way out.
Rashmika has shared her immense faith in director Rahul Ravindran and the film “The Girlfriend.” In a heartfelt post for his birthday, she wrote, “You are too precious, my friend. I still can’t believe you’ve made a film like ‘The Girlfriend.’ The emotional depth you have, the niceness that flows through every frame,” adding that she found in him “a director, a friend, a mentor, and a partner in crime for a lifetime whom I trust wholly and immensely.”
Written and directed by Rahul Ravindran, the film features music by Hesham Abdul Wahab and cinematography by Krishnan Vasant.
