Bollywood singer Rahul Vaidya recently took to social media to emphasize the significance of staying connected to one’s roots and culture, drawing inspiration from football legend Lionel Messi.
A Lesson from Messi
Rahul posted, “One thing we Inddigihunt must learn from Messi: Own your language. Own your culture. English is a skill — not a master. Learn it well, but don’t be enslaved by it. Looking down on your own language is the real insecurity. Global icon. Zero language insecurity.”
Despite being a global superstar, Messi surprised many by opting to communicate in his mother tongue, Spanish, during his visit to India. He chose to speak through his official translator instead of using English or any other language.
Messi toured India recently, visiting cities such as Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Mumbai. On Wednesday, he shared a special video from his trip, along with a heartfelt message for his Indian fans.
Memorable Moments in India
The video showcased Messi interacting with children at various stadiums and featured a meeting with cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar. Among all his Bollywood interactions, he highlighted only his meeting with actress Kareena Kapoor Khan and her sons.
In the post, Messi expressed, “Namaste, India! What incredible visits to Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata. Thanks for the warm welcome, great hospitality, and all the expressions of love throughout my tour. I hope football has a bright future in India (sic).”
Kareena, excited to be part of Messi’s farewell video, gave a shout-out to her son, Taimur, who highly admires the football star. She reposted the video on her social media, adding, “Ok Tim, then this happened (heart emoji) for you (heart emoji) (sic).”
During his stay in India, Messi had the opportunity to meet several Bollywood celebrities, including Ajay Devgn, Tiger Shroff, Shilpa Shetty, and Geeta Basra, among others.
