On Thursday, the ‘Neerja’ star shared the joyful news on her Instagram. In a stylish post showcasing her baby bump, she wrote simply, “Mother.” Friends and colleagues from the film industry quickly took to the comments to express their happiness for Sonam.
Kareena Kapoor remarked, “Sona and Anand,” accompanied by red heart emojis. Priyanka Chopra wrote, “Congratulations,” while Parineeti Chopra chimed in with, “Congrats mamacitaaa.” Bhumi Pednekar also extended her warm wishes with a heartfelt, “Congratulations.”
For her announcement, Sonam was inspired by Princess Diana’s iconic style, sporting a bold hot-pink wool suit with oversized, softly curved padded shoulders.
Sonam Kapoor and her husband, businessman Anand Ahuja, got married in a grand ceremony in May 2018 after several years of dating. They welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Vayu, in August 2022. Rumors regarding Sonam’s second pregnancy began circulating in October, suggesting she was already in her second trimester at that time.
The 40-year-old actress made her film debut in 2007 with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Saawariya” and has since starred in several notable films, including “Delhi 6,” “Aisha,” “Raanjhanaa,” “Khoobsurat,” “Dolly Ki Doli,” and “Veere Di Wedding.” Her most recent film was in the 2023 crime thriller “Blind,” directed by Shome Makhija, where she played a leading role alongside Purab Kohli, Vinay Pathak, and Lillete Dubey. The film is a remake of the 2011 Korean movie of the same name, focusing on a blind police officer searching for a serial killer.
Following the birth of her first child, Sonam has taken a break from films but remains active in the public sphere, attending events and hosting gatherings at home.
