Filmmaker Karan Johar recently reflected on the iconic Bollywood movie, “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge,” describing it as his training ground and sharing cherished memories from the film featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol.
Wishing Aditya Chopra, the director of the movie, a “Happy Teachers Day,” Karan expressed his sentiments on his Instagram Stories: “My alma mater @yrf…my training ground DDLJ…lifelong relationships…The most indelible memories…30 years of a love classic.”
For those unfamiliar, Karan worked as an Assistant Director on “DDLJ” and also made a brief appearance as Shah Rukh’s friend in the beloved drama.
As the film marks its 30th anniversary, Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol unveiled a bronze statue of their characters, Raj and Simran, at London’s Leicester Square. This statue is a significant milestone, being the first-ever Indian film to receive such an honor in Leicester Square, joining the ranks of iconic films including Harry Potter, Mary Poppins, Paddington, and Singin’ in the Rain.
An enthusiastic Shah Rukh took to his official Instagram to share a post alongside co-star Kajol, featuring several snapshots from the special event. Celebrating the occasion, the beloved duo wrote, “Bade Bade Deshon Mein, Aisi Chhoti Chhoti Baatein Hoti Rehti Hain, Senorita! Thrilled to unveil the bronze statue of Raj & Simran at London’s Leicester Square today, celebrating 30 years of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ)! (sic)”.
They expressed their immense joy, stating, “Incredibly delighted that DDLJ is the first Indian film to be honoured with a statue in the Scenes in the Square trail. A big thank you to everyone in the UK for making this possible.” Shah Rukh extended an invitation to all DDLJ lovers to visit the iconic statue, saying, “Come meet Raj & Simran if and when you are in London… We would love to see you make more memories with DDLJ.”
