The makers of director Dayal Padmanabhan’s highly anticipated film ‘Lakshmikanthan Kolai Vazhakku’, featuring lead actors Vetri and Brigida, have announced that renowned historian and Periyarist Suba Veerapandian will play a significant role in the movie.
Previously, it was revealed that alongside Vetri and Brigida, the film will also showcase renowned journalist Rangaraj Pandey in a vital role. In a fresh update, Periyarist Suba Veerapandian has joined the project to portray an important character.
For those unfamiliar, ‘Lakshmikanthan Kolai Vazhakku’ (which translates to the murder case of Lakshmikanthan) centers around the murder of a prominent journalist that occurred several decades ago, entwined with the sensational involvement of iconic Tamil cinema figures. This case has been a captivating narrative that shook the nation.
Over the years, various creators have tried to recreate this intriguing chapter through fictional narratives, but none have succeeded thus far. A passionate team of filmmakers is now set on bringing this long-desired cinematic vision to life.
Discussing the film and the inclusion of historian Suba Veerapandian, director Dayal Padmanabhan stated, “This incident was widely discussed in Tamil Nadu. Our film is crafted after extensive research on the case. We are thrilled to have Suba Veerapandian sir on board to enrich the authenticity and depth of our narrative. Produced by K V Sabareesh under the banner of 2m Cinemas and written and directed by Dayal Padmanabhan, who is also co-producing under his home banner D Pictures, the film promises to deliver a captivating narrative.

The film’s ensemble cast also includes Saravanan, Lollu Sabha Maran, Ilavarasu, and Kavitha Bharathi, among others.
Filming has commenced in Chennai, with the crew working diligently across the city’s beautiful locations to maintain a brisk pace.
The technical team features M V Panneerselvam as the cinematographer and Darbuka Siva as the music director. Anbu oversees production design, while Ramesh will handle costume design. The shooting schedule has been meticulously planned across Chennai’s enchanting locales, promising a visually compelling experience to match its subject.
