Soha Ali Khan Calls for Immediate Action as AQI Hits Severe Levels: Toxic Air Alert!

Actress Soha Ali Khan has expressed her concern regarding the deteriorating air quality, as the Air Quality Index (AQI) in various cities reaches alarming levels.

On her Instagram stories, Soha shared a picture of the sky adorned with a “toxic” sticker, emphasizing the urgent need for systemic changes to combat pollution. She stated, “The AQI is at a severe level. Almost and rising. We are breathing in toxic fumes. Please can we implement some systemic changes to address this?”

Currently, the air quality in Delhi and Mumbai remains in the ‘very poor’ and ‘poor’ categories, respectively. A thin layer of fog settled over India Gate and Kartavya Path around 7:40 a.m., resulting in low visibility and an AQI around 350, which signifies very poor conditions.

Data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) indicates that Delhi’s overall AQI is at 337, showing only slight improvement from the previous day. Out of 39 monitoring stations in the national capital, 34 reported ‘very poor’ air quality, while five stations indicated pollution levels in the ‘poor’ category. In Mumbai, six stations recorded AQI values exceeding 200, resulting in a drop from the “moderate” to “poor” category.

On the professional front, the 46-year-old actress was last seen in the horror drama “Chhorii 2,” where she delivered a notable performance as Daasi Maa. Directed by Vishal Furia, this film serves as a sequel to the 2021 thriller “Chhorii.” The sequel features Nushrratt Bharuccha in the lead along with key performances from Gashmeer Mahajani and Saurabh Goyal. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, and Vikram Malhotra, the film was released on April 11, 2025. Soha is also set to appear in the upcoming film “Bridge.”

Soha began her acting journey with the romantic comedy “Dil Maange More” in 2004 and gained recognition for her roles in the drama “Rang De Basanti” and the romance “Ahista Ahista.” In 2017, she authored the book “The Perils of Being Moderately Famous.”

  • Chandan Roy Sanyal Honors Dharmendra, Reflects on His Bengali Debut Film ‘Paari’

Chandan Roy Sanyal Honors Dharmendra, Reflects on His Bengali Debut Film ‘Paari’

Actor Chandan Roy Sanyal recently shared a heartfelt tribute to the late Dharmendra, reminiscing about his debut Bengali movie “Paari,” which was later adapted into Hindi as “Anokha Milan” in 1972.

Chandan expressed his emotions on Instagram, reflecting on Dharmendra’s legacy following his passing at the age of 89.

    A Hero Remembered

He wrote, “Waqt laga likhne mein… jab sab thamm jaaye, ruk jaaye. Dharam ji. Hero — woh hero jo is desh ki Hindi cinema ki pehchaan hai. Woh alaukik sitaara jinhone 6 dashakon tak ek chhatr raaj kiya logon ke dil mein. Woh sitaara jo Hindi cinema ka paryaya-vaachi ban gaye.”

(“It took me time to write these words… when everything felt still, when the heart just stopped. Dharam ji… a true hero — the kind of hero who became the very identity of Hindi cinema. That divine, alaukik sitara who ruled the hearts of audiences for six decades. A star who became a synonym for Hindi films itself.”)

    Cherished Memories

Chandan fondly recalled working with Dharmendra in the 2011 film “Tell Me O Kkhuda.” He stated, “Unse milne ka, unhe jaanne ka saubhagya mila… unke saath ek film mein kaam karne ka bhi mauka mila. Unko shraddhanjali. Aane waali sadiyon tak kitne actors unpar prabhavit honge. Unka janam is dharti pe ek kalakaar banke aana hum sabke liye ek vardaan tha. Deol parivaar ko mera naman. In shabdon ko baandhne mein sach mein waqt laga. Dharmendra amar rahe. Long live Dharmendra. Adios.”

(“I had the good fortune to meet him, to know him… and even got the chance to work with him in one film. Today, I offer my shraddhanjali. For centuries to come, countless actors will continue to be inspired by him. His very birth on this earth as an artist was a blessing for all of us. My salaam to the entire Deol parivaar. It took time to string these words together — Dharmendra amar rahe. Long live Dharmendra. Adios.”)

    Recalling ‘Paari’

Chandan reflected on the era of the Bengali film “Paari,” directed by Jagganath Chatterjee, based on a story by Jarasandha. This film marked Dharmendra’s debut in Bengali cinema, alongside Pronoti Ghosh, and featured Dilip Kumar in a guest appearance.

He noted, “Ek film mili — Bangla “Paari” (1966), jiska Hindi version bana Anokha Milan (1972). Kya log the… kya kalakaar the… Dilip, Dharam, aur unke zamaane ke saare artists — cinema ke liye hamesha tatpar.”

(“There was one film he got: the Bangla classic Pari (1966), whose Hindi version became Anokha Milan in 1972. What people they were… what kalakaars… Dilip saab, Dharam ji, and all the artists of that era — always ready for cinema, always devoted.”)

    Favorite Film

When asked about his favorite Dharmendra film, Chandan shared, “Meri unki sabse favourite film hai Pratiggya. Bachpan mein dekhi thi — itna hansa, itna hansa… OMG! Dhanyavaad Dharam ji — aapki filmein, aapke gaane hamesha aapki yaad dilaayenge. Yeh gaana unki Bangla film Pari ka hai. So long… shat shat naman.”

(“My most favourite film of his is Pratiggya. I watched it in childhood — I laughed so much, so much… OMG! Thank you, Dharam ji. Your films, your songs will always bring your yaad back to us. This song is from his Bangla film Pari. So long… shat shat naman.”)

  • Simu Liu Highlights Hollywood’s Asian Representation Gap: A Call for Change

Simu Liu Highlights Hollywood’s Asian Representation Gap: A Call for Change

Actor Simu Liu, known for his role in Marvel’s “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” has highlighted the Hollywood industry’s inadequate representation of Asian actors in cinema.

In a recent social media post, Liu expressed his concerns about the lack of visibility for his community. He stated, “Put some Asdigihunt in literally anything right now. The amount of backslide in our representation onscreen is…. appalling. Studios think we’re risky.”

His comments came after he encountered a post advocating for more Asian men in romantic lead roles. Liu cited successful films such as “Minari,” “The Farewell,” “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” “Crazy Rich Asdigihunt,” and his own Marvel movie, emphasizing that “every single one [was] a financial success.”

He further asserted, “No Asian actor has ever lost a studio even close to 100 million dollars, but a white dude will lose 200 million TWICE and roll right into the next tentpole lead. We’re fighting a deeply prejudiced system. And most days…. [sic].”

This isn’t the first instance of Liu addressing representation issues in Hollywood. In 2023, he responded to an article that suggested he was getting “the bulk of Asian male roles.” In a Facebook post, he challenged the statement: “Way to attempt to put us against one another. What ‘bulk’ of roles are you referring to? Are there movies I’m in that I’m not aware of? Do you really think that there is a quota of ‘Asian male roles’ that is a zero-sum game?”

Liu added, “Everything I have taken post Shang-Chi was not written in Asian. We’ve been able to reshape stories to get more representation onscreen. Get your facts straight.”

  • Kritika Kamra Dismisses ‘Visibility Projects’: Focused on Meaningful Roles Only!

Kritika Kamra Dismisses ‘Visibility Projects’: Focused on Meaningful Roles Only!

Actress Kritika Kamra, recognized for her roles in Bambai Meri Jaan, Gyaarah Gyaarah, Bheed, and the upcoming Saare Jahan Se Achha, has expressed her disinterest in participating in the traditional rat race of the film industry just for visibility.

    On Choosing Meaningful Roles

Kritika shared, “I have never been interested in being part of the rat race or doing projects just to stay visible. For me, every role should have purpose and depth. I would rather wait for something that challenges me and allows me to grow as an actor than do something that doesn’t add value to my journey.”

She emphasized that “visibility fades, but good work stays with people.” Kritika aspires to be remembered for the choices she makes rather than her on-screen frequency.

    A Transition in Career

Known for her ability to portray complex, layered characters, Kritika has seamlessly transitioned from television to OTT and films. Her roles in Bheed, the period drama intensity of Bambai Meri Jaan, and the mystery-laced narrative of Gyaarah Gyaarah highlight her commitment to meaningful storytelling.

“I take my time before saying yes to a project. I look for stories that speak to me, roles that have something substantial to offer, and teams that are driven by passion, not pressure. I’m grateful that audiences today value sincerity and storytelling over stardom,” she noted.

Kritika added, “That shift has given actors like me the freedom to be authentic.”

    Upcoming Projects

Currently, Kritika is preparing for a new project directed by Anusha Rizvi. This yet-untitled film is set in Delhi and explores the experiences of an ordinary family as they navigate generational gaps, belonging, and sisterhood, infused with gentle humor and emotional honesty.

It features female talents such as Juhu Babbar and Shreya Dhanwanthary and was shot extensively in Delhi. The project is now in post-production.

Additionally, Kritika stars in Matka King, which features Vijay Varma. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Nagraj Manjule, known for “Sairat” and “Fandry,” Matka King explores the gritty world of 1960s Mumbai.

    Plot Insights

“Matka King” chronicles the journey of a cotton trader in Mumbai who introduces a new gambling game called Matka, making waves in a space traditionally reserved for the affluent.

The series also includes notable performances from Sai Tamhankar, Gulshan Grover, and Siddharth Jadhav, among others. Written by Abhay Koranne and Nagraj Manjule, the project is produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur and Manjule along with Gargi Kulkarni, Ashish Aryan, and Ashwini Sidwani, under the banner of Roy Kapur Films.

On set the female crew members used to be all head over heels for Arjun sir despite his fierce look in the film.”

However, recent years have seen a series of unsuccessful big-budget projects, including Heropanti 2, Ganapath, and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, contributing to a decline in his career.

Earlier this year, Tiger also appeared in a music video titled “Bepanaah.” The vibrant track was written and composed by Avitesh Shrivastava, son of the late music maestro Aadesh Shrivastava. This marked Tiger’s first on-screen collaboration with Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia.

  • Nicole Kidman: How Just One ‘Break’ Can Transform Your Life!

Nicole Kidman: How Just One ‘Break’ Can Transform Your Life!

Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman recently shared her thoughts on the movie business and the unique opportunities it offers.

In a chat with Ariana Grande for Interview magazine, Kidman expressed her admiration for the industry. She said, “There are so many people that want to do it and are insanely talented, and just don’t get the lucky break.”

    The Excitement of Acting

Kidman highlighted the unpredictability of the entertainment world: “What’s fantastic about our industry is that, actually, there is that chance. We’re not in business or something, where you have to keep working your way up. Sometimes that lucky break can just fall from the heavens and your whole life changes.”

She elaborated, “Maybe you’ve been auditioning for 20 years, and then you get that role. It’s like you’re always on the precipice of everything changing. That’s what’s so wonderful about being an actor or a singer or an artist.” Kidman emphasized the thrill of potential success, noting, “It could be just around the corner, that big break. And I’ve seen it happen for so many people, close friends of mine, later in life, too.”

    Sharing Experiences Instead of Advice

Despite her success, Kidman believes in a gentle approach to sharing wisdom. As she mentioned to Harper’s Bazaar, “I’m not big on telling people what to do, but I’m more than happy to share. Then, people can take tidbits because we all know you tell somebody to do something, and they’re going to do what they want to do anyway. That’s true, right? So it’s more about sharing your own experiences, saying this is what I’ve learned, take from it what you will.”

    Embracing Personal Features

In addition to her thoughts on the industry, Kidman spoke about embracing her appearance. When asked if she has grown to appreciate aspects of herself that she once disliked, she mentioned, “My fair skin. I used to hate it. It’s still not my favourite thing, but I appreciate it because it’s very good on film, so I use it that way.”

She added, “My height (is another thing I’ve learned to appreciate). I’m lucky to be tall, and I have so much leeway with what I eat because there’s so many more places for it to go!”

In sharing her insights, Kidman reflects a journey of self-acceptance and a passion for the art of acting.
