Current Projects

Currently, Vishnu Vishal is busy filming the sequel to the successful movie ‘Gatta Kusthi,’ directed by Chella Ayyavu. Reports indicate that the shooting is progressing swiftly in Pollachi and nearby areas.

The sequel’s production kicked off with a traditional pooja ceremony earlier this month in Chennai. Filming locations include Ambasamudram and Pollachi in Tamil Nadu as well as Palakkad in Kerala.

Titled ‘Gatta Kusthi 2,’ the sequel will feature the same lead pair as the original, with production handled by Vishnu Vishal Studioz and Vels Film International.

A promo video released by the filmmakers hints that the sequel promises to be as comical as its predecessor. It is expected to continue the storyline from the first film while addressing everyday household issues in a humorous manner, making it a complete commercial entertainer.

The lead pair, Vishnu Vishal and Aishwarya Lekshmi, will reprise their roles. Supporting cast members Karunas, Kali Venkat, Munishkanth, and Gajaraj, who played significant roles in the first installment, will also return. Actor Karunakaran is set to join the sequel in a crucial role.

Directed by Chella Ayyavu, ‘Gatta Kusthi 2’ will have cinematography by K M Bhaskaran and music by Sean Roldan. The editing will be handled by Barath Vikraman, while art direction will be overseen by S. Jayachandran. Stunts will be choreographed by Murugan, with dance sequences choreographed by Baba Bhaskar.

While it remains unclear whether Ashneer responded to the email, he did choose to share it on social media, adding humorously: “Haha! Salman bhai se pooch le !! Mai to free ho jaaunga tab tak. Ye ‘mail merge’ kisi ki to naukri khayega.” This translates to, “Haha! Ask Salman bhai! I’ll be free by then. This ‘mail merge’ is going to take someone’s job.”

Ashneer humorously alluded to the possibility of wrapping up his hosting duties on ‘Rise & Fall’ before diving into ‘Bigg Boss 19.’

The relationship between Ashneer and Salman has a backstory. During a ‘Weekend Ka Vaar’ episode of ‘Bigg Boss 18,’ Ashneer appeared as a guest, where Salman confronted him regarding previous comments. Ashneer had claimed in a podcast that he was denied a photo with Salman and alleged that he negotiated Salman’s fee for a brand ambassadorship with his company, BharatPe, bringing it down from INR 7.5 crore to INR 4.5 crore. On the 102nd birth anniversary of the evergreen legend Dev Anand, veteran actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha fondly remembered the iconic star and expressed heartfelt gratitude and admiration.

Shatrughan, father of Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha, took to X (formerly Twitter) to recall one of Dev Anand’s inspiring videos, labeling it “thought-provoking” while praising the filmmaker’s timeless charm. He shared a nostalgic glimpse from their 1971 film “Gambler,” which revolves around a gambler named Raja who rises in the gambling world but faces moral dilemmas after discovering a large sum of money.

Shatrughan posted on X: “Remembering with love & fondness an extremely thought-provoking video by one of the most stylish & ever-young filmmakers #DevAnand on his birthday. ‘Pearls of Wisdom’ as he speaks of changes then, now and in the times to come.”

Dev Anand is considered one of the greatest and most successful actors in Indian cinema, with a career spanning over six decades and more than 100 films to his credit. He made his debut in 1946 with a lead role in Prabhat Films’s Hum Ek Hain, a film focused on Hindu-Muslim unity.

His first commercial breakthrough arrived with the 1948 film Ziddi, but it was the 1951 crime thriller Baazi that catapulted him to fame, being regarded as a precursor to the “Bombay Noir” trend in Hindi cinema during the 1950s.

From the 1950s to the 1970s, Dev Anand delivered several hits, including Jaal, Taxi Driver, Insaniyat, C.I.D., Paying Guest, Kala Pani, Kala Bazar, Jab Pyar Kisi Se Hota Hai, Hum Dono, Asli-Naqli, Tere Ghar Ke Samne, Guide, Jewel Thief, Johny Mera Naam, and Hare Rama Hare Krishna.

In the 1970s and 1980s, films such as Amir Garib, Warrant, Jaaneman, Darling Darling, Des Pardes, Swami Dada, and Lashkar kept him relevant amidst the rise of other stars.

Dev Anand’s most acclaimed works include Munimji, Funtoosh, Baarish, Nau Do Gyarah, Solva Saal, Teen Devian, Prem Pujari, Tere Mere Sapne, and Heera Panna. His journey came to a close with the 2011 film Chargesheet, which he also directed.

Dev Anand passed away in his hotel room in London at the age of 88 on December 3, 2011, due to cardiac arrest. His death occurred just two months after the release of his final film, Chargesheet, which he directed and produced.

Punjabi global superstar Diljit Dosanjh has further solidified his international fame, receiving a nomination at the prestigious International Emmy Awards.

The storyline chronicles Chamkila’s journey from a Dalit laborer and aspiring musician to a folk legend renowned for his daring lyrics. It culminates in the unresolved mystery of his assassination in 1988 when he was shot while performing on stage alongside his wife.

The film boasts a captivating soundtrack composed by Oscar and Grammy-winning music director A. R. Rahman. It reimagines Chamkila’s spirit, skillfully blending folk roots with modern arrangements. Eschewing conventional biopic methods, the film employs musical storytelling and interviews, piecing together both his journey and the enigma surrounding his death.

Global Recognition

This nomination further enhances Diljit’s status as a global sensation. His remarkable body of work has seen him emerge as a superstar in recent years. In a historic concert at Coachella 2023, Diljit became the first Punjabi artist to grace the stage, mesmerizing global audiences with his vibrant performances and cultural pride.

Furthermore, he made an appearance on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ in 2024, delivering an electrifying performance of ‘Born to Shine’ and ‘G.O.A.T.’, where he was hailed as “the biggest Punjabi artiste on the planet.”
