Singer-rapper Badshah recently paid tribute to the late superstar Dharmendra on the sets of Indian Idol 16. In a touching video shared by the show’s host channel on social media, Badshah expressed his deep admiration and respect for the legendary star.

He remarked, “Dharam paaji was the real essence of Punjab, and now it feels as if that beautiful fragrance and essence has been lost from the soil of our own Punjab. He was Dharam Paaji, everybody’s, every fan’s ideal idol…”

Continuing his tribute, Badshah conveyed heartfelt wishes, saying, “Dharam ji wherever you are, be happy and hopeful and at peace.” He concluded his homage with a shayari often recited by Dharmendra: “Sab kuch paakar bhi, haasil-e-zindagi kuch bhi nahi, Kambakkht jaan kyun jaati hai jaate hue.”

Singer and judge Shreya Ghoshal stood in respect, visibly emotional during the tribute. Dharmendra passed away on November 24 at the age of 89. On November 27, his wife and actress Hema Malini took to her social media account to express her grief and reminisce about him.

Hema penned an emotional note stating, “Dharam ji. He was many things to me. Loving husband, adoring father of our two girls, Esha and Ahaana, friend, philosopher, guide, my ‘go to’ person in all times of need – in fact, he was everything to me! And always has been through good times and bad. He endeared himself to all my family members with his easy, friendly ways, always showing affection and interest in all of them.”

She added, “As a public personality, his talent, his humility in spite of his popularity, and his universal appeal set him apart as a unique icon unequalled among all the legends. His enduring fame and achievements in the film industry will last forever.” Reflecting on her personal loss, she said, “My personal loss is indescribable, and the vacuum created is something that will last through the rest of my life. After years of togetherness, I am left with myriad memories to relive the many special moments…”

Dharmendra had been hospitalised at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital in mid-November after reportedly complaining of breathlessness but was soon discharged and continued his recovery at home.

A prayer meet for the late superstar has been organised by the Deol family this evening in Mumbai. Professionally, Dharmendra will be seen posthumously in the movie ‘Ikkis’, directed by ace filmmaker Sriram Raghavan, which also stars Agastya Nanda and Simar Bhatia.

If sources in the industry are to be believed, actor Vineeth Srinivasan has now joined the unit of director Arun Anirudhan’s eagerly awaited Malayalam film ‘Athiradi’.

Film Details and Shooting Schedule

The film features actors Basil Joseph, Tovino Thomas, and Vineeth Sreenivasan in lead roles. It commenced its second shooting schedule on November 18. The unit had completed the first schedule by the start of this month and originally planned to begin the second schedule on November 12. However, there was a slight delay, leading to the rescheduled start on November 18.

Sources indicate that while the shooting began on November 18, Tovino Thomas joined the unit on November 23, and Vineeth Srinivasan was expected to join on November 25. It’s now confirmed that Vineeth has indeed joined the team, and the entire schedule will be completed in one go.

Anticipation Among Fans

‘Athiradi’ has generated immense excitement among fans and film enthusiasts, as it marks the first collaboration of Basil Joseph, Tovino Thomas, and Vineeth Sreenivasan on screen.

A teaser released by the makers some days ago opens with the introduction of Vineeth Sreenivasan’s character, followed by the characters of Basil Joseph and Tovino Thomas. The teaser suggests that ‘Athiradi’ will be a mass action entertainer. The punchline gives the impression that the team aims to deliver a power-packed theatrical experience, while also indicating that the trio will portray distinctly different characters in terms of both appearance and personality.

Production Insights

The film is produced by Basil Joseph’s production house Basil Joseph Entertainments in collaboration with Doctor Ananthu Entertainments. Directed by debutant filmmaker Arun Anirudhan, who was a screenwriter for the first Malayalam superhero film, ‘Minnal Murali’, ‘Athiradi’ promises to be a complete entertainer.

The script is co-written by Paulson Skaria and Arun Anirudhan, with co-producers including Sameer Thahir and Tovino Thomas. Following ‘Minnal Murali’, ‘Athiradi’ also reunites Tovino Thomas, Basil Joseph, Sameer Thahir, and Arun Anirudhan.

Technical Team

On the technical front, cinematography is handled by Samuel Henry, with music composed by Vishnu Vijay. The editing is managed by Chaman Chacko, while costume design is by Mashar Hamsa.

Bigg Boss contestant and Tamil film actress Samyuktha Shanumughanathan wed cricketer Aniruda Srikkanth at an intimate ceremony.
