Amitabh Bachchan recalls his first meeting with Punjabi legend Gurdas Maan in a resurfaced video.

Veteran Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan recently opened up about his first encounter with the iconic Punjabi artist Gurdas Maan in an old video from a quiz-based reality show that has resurfaced online.

A Memorable First Meeting

Amitabh expressed his admiration for Gurdas Maan, saying, “Let me tell you something. I’m a big fan of Gurdas Maan. And I’ve been listening to him for many years. And I don’t know if he remembers me or not, but I’m reminding him.” He recalled their initial meeting at an airport, where Gurdas Maan approached him with a bow. Amitabh, feeling nervous, responded, “What a great man you are. Don’t ever do this. I’m not worthy of this. I bow to you.”

Gurdas Maan’s Gratitude

Gurdas Maan honored Amitabh by stating, “You take such good care of an elderly person, a child, or anyone who can’t walk properly. And even if they have a tear in their eyes, you treat them respectfully because the knowledge and art that you have inside you is not common. It’s very bright. It’s an example of perfectness. Thank you so much.”

Remembering Family

In recent days, Amitabh also remembered his late mother, Teji Bachchan, on her 18th death anniversary. He took to his blog to share a heartfelt tribute, posting a picture of her along with a note dedicating the day to her memory. He wrote, “Maa ki yad main din samarpit aaj ka din. December 21. Kuch kehne ke liye shabd nahi hote bas… Prarthanayein.”

Teji Bachchan married Harivansh Rai Bachchan in Allahabad in 1941 and dedicated herself to homemaking while nurturing her love for the stage and singing at social gatherings. She had two sons, Amitabh and Ajitabh Bachchan. Teji spent much of 2007 in the hospital, eventually being shifted to the ICU in November. She passed away at the age of 93 on December 21, 2007, following a prolonged illness.

Upcoming Film News

On the professional front, Amitabh recently penned a note regarding the postponement of his grandson Agastya Nanda’s film ‘Ikkis’. Initially set to release on October 2, the film was later rescheduled for a Christmas release on December 25, alongside Kartik Aaryan’s romantic comedy drama ‘Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri’. Now, it is slated for a solo release on January 1. Directed by Sriram Raghavan, this war drama is based on the life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal and revolves around the Battle of Basantar during the 1971 India–Pakistan War.
