Actor Vikram Prabhu, who stars alongside newcomer L K Akshay Kumar in director Suresh Rajakumari’s gripping action drama ‘Sirai’, has revealed that he gained an additional 10 kilos for his role in the film.
Vikram’s Transformation for the Role
Talking to reporters, Vikram Prabhu detailed his character, a policeman with around 10 years of experience in the force. “I had to add another 10 kgs for this role,” he shared, emphasizing that although he has portrayed a cop before, this character is significantly more mature than his previous roles.
Initial Hook from Director Tamizh
Vikram Prabhu mentioned that his first connection to this project came through director Tamizh, who initially reached out to him to discuss the story. “I told him that since doing ‘Taanakaaran,’ I had been getting a series of cop roles and questioned if this was the right choice. But Tamizh assured me it was a good story and encouraged me to listen to it. He narrated it for half an hour, and I liked it,” Vikram said.

The film is produced by the renowned S S Lalit Kumar’s Seven Screen Studios. It draws inspiration from real-life incidents, with the story crafted by director Tamizh, who is widely recognized for the critically acclaimed film ‘Taanakaran.’ This narrative is said to stem from a personal experience.

Suresh Rajakumari, the co-director of acclaimed filmmaker Vetrimaran, has taken on the roles of writer and director for this film. Vikram Prabhu plays the lead, and actress Anantha is featured opposite him. The film also marks the acting debut of producer S S Lalit Kumar’s son, L K Akshay Kumar, with actress Anishma as his pair.
The film’s music is composed by Justin Prabhakaran, while cinematography is handled by Madesh Manickam. Editing is by the esteemed Philomin Raj, and stunts are choreographed by Prabhu. Arun K and Manikandan serve as the film’s executive producers.

Filming took place in various locales, including Chennai, Sivagangai, and Vellore. ‘Sirai’ is scheduled to hit screens on December 25 this year.
