Well-known actor Ashwin Kakamanu, recognized for his impressive performance in director Ravindra Madhava’s gripping action thriller ‘Thanal,’ has revealed that he has taken up boxing seriously and finds the sport to be a significant stress reliever.
Passion for Boxing
In an exclusive conversation, Ashwin shared, “Boxing is something I always enjoyed watching because I’m a huge Sylvester Stallone fan. Therefore, I’m a huge Rocky fan by default.” He emphasized that from his teenage years, boxing has been a source of excitement for him. “Even when I was kind of down, I would just put the thing on YouTube and just watch it,” he explained.
Journey into the Sport
Ashwin provided insights into how he became serious about boxing. “Before the pandemic, I had actually gotten this offer for a boxing film which I really liked. I was like, ‘This is it. I get to play this role.’ So, I joined boxing. But then the pandemic happened, and boxing kind of went by the wayside.”
A Return to Boxing
However, last year, the actor felt compelled to return to the sport. “Boxing kind of gives you this mental relief. In fact, it’s a stress buster. I also go with my wife and my friends. So, it’s actually fun to do it as friends,” he stated.
Group Motivation
He added that he and his friends attend classes together, saying, “We motivate each other. Your body posture automatically changes when you take up the sport. Your shoulder, your speed, all those things kind of add to it. So, it’s a fitness thing.” He noted that the repetitive nature of conventional gym workouts can be mundane, and incorporating boxing introduces a refreshing change.
Ashwin highlighted additional aspects of his fitness regime, mentioning, “Also, there’s animal flow, there’s these animal postures and mobility. So, I feel, you know, boxing helps me get into that Zen state.”
