Alan Cumming reveals he accidentally injured Pedro Pascal while filming ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ scene.

Actor-director Alan Cumming has revealed that he accidentally injured fellow actor Pedro Pascal during the shooting of Avengers: Doomsday.

Cumming, 60, returned to his role as Nightcrawler for the 2026 Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) blockbuster after a hiatus of over 20 years. In a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, he shared an amusing incident from the set, stating he accidentally “broke” Pascal, who stars as Mr. Fantastic.

Injury Incident

When asked by Kimmel what fans can expect from Nightcrawler in the upcoming film, Cumming joked, “All of (the X-Men cast) are in it, too. What was funny was that in my first scene with Pedro, he hurt his neck and had to go home. I broke Pedro.”

He clarified that the mishap occurred not during an action scene, but rather was a simple production error. “No, I wasn’t fighting. No, no. I was just, sort of, being—we were just together in a scene, and I wasn’t fighting, no. He’s got these big long arms and everything, so it’s quite complicated. I do have a tail, but I didn’t have my tail on at the time. Pedro didn’t have his arms on either.”

Star-Studded Cast

According to reports, Avengers: Doomsday will feature the return of several X-Men icons, including Sir Patrick Stewart, Sir Ian McKellen, Kelsey Grammer, Channing Tatum, James Marsden, and Rebecca Romijn. The film will also bring back stars from Avengers and Thunderbolts, such as Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell, David Harbour, and Lewis Pullman.

Notably, Chris Evans will reprise his role as Steve Rogers, having last portrayed Captain America in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Doomsday is set to release on December 18, 2026. The storyline is expected to follow the Avengers, the New Avengers, and the X-Men as they unite to thwart Doctor Doom’s harmful plans for the Multiverse.
