Actor Ram Charan extended warm birthday wishes to music maestro A.R. Rahman, expressing gratitude for the musical magic the composer has infused into his upcoming film, Peddi.

Ram took to Instagram to share a picture with Rahman, who celebrated his 59th birthday recently. In his heartfelt note for the Oscar-winning composer, he wished him good health, happiness, and “endless music.”

“Wishing @arrahman sir a very Happy Birthday. May this year bring you great health, happiness and endless music. #ChikiriChikiri was just the beginning. Can’t thank you enough sir…for the magic you’ve woven for #Peddi,” he wrote.

About Peddi

Peddi is directed by Buchi Babu Sana. Initially filmed under the working title RC16, it was officially announced as “Peddi” in March 2025. Ram Charan plays the titular role, paired with Janhvi Kapoor. The ensemble cast also features Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, and Divyenndu.

The original score and soundtrack album for the film are crafted by A. R. Rahman, with the release date set for 27 March 2026.

Rahman’s Accomplishments

Rahman, affectionately known as “Isai Puyal” and “Mozart of Madras,” has an impressive list of accolades, including six National Film Awards, two Academy Awards, two Grammy Awards, a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe Award, and the Padma Bhushan.

Beginning his film-scoring career in the early 1990s with the Tamil film Roja, Rahman has contributed music to numerous Tamil films, such as Mani Ratnam’s politically charged Bombay, the urban Kaadhalan, and Gentleman, S. Shankar’s debut film.

His first Hollywood venture was the comedy Couples Retreat in 2009. Notably, his work on Slumdog Millionaire earned him the Best Original Score and Best Original Song at the 81st Academy Awards.

In 2006, he received recognition from Stanford University for his contributions to global music. The Lifetime Achievement Award from the Rotary Club of Madras followed in 2008, and in 2009, he was included in Time’s list of the world’s 100 most influential people. Rahman also made his debut as a director and writer with the film Le Musk in 2017.
