Director Shankar Praises Debut Film ‘Sirai,’ Calling It an Emotional Masterpiece That Resonates Deeply

Ace director Shankar has praised debut director Suresh Rajakumari’s critically acclaimed film ‘Sirai’, stating that it “really moved him to tears in many places.”

Taking to his X timeline, Shankar, a prominent figure in the Tamil and Telugu film industries, expressed his admiration: “#Sirai- Such a good film. Really moved me to tears in many places. Loved all the characters and their performances which stayed with me after the film.”

Shankar went on to commend the performances of the cast, saying, “@iamVikramPrabhu gave a staunch performance throughout the film. #LKAkshayKumar and #AnishmaAnilkumar’s acting captured their character’s innocence and emotions beautifully.”

He also congratulated the film’s producer, stating, “My heartfelt wishes to the producer #SSLalitKumar for bringing us this gem. Director #SureshRajakumari imprisoned our hearts with his excellent debut. The message in the last scene was solid and very relevant. Tamil Cinema ending the year on a high note.”

‘Sirai’ has opened strongly at the box office and has received widespread acclaim from audiences. Cricketer Ravichandra Ashwin also expressed his appreciation for the film, saying, “Really liked the film a lot. It was a very gripping film. In today’s day and age, watching a film without touching one’s phone is a big thing. I did not touch my phone while watching this film completely. Fabulous acting actually — be it Vikram (Prabhu) and Akshay (Kumar) and all the cast members. The way they have built each character, it didn’t look like a hero’s film at all. It looked like everybody’s movie. It was very nice. Refreshing for Tamil cinema!”

For those unfamiliar, the gripping police drama features actors Vikram Prabhu and L K Akshay Kumar in lead roles. Producer S S Lalit Kumar, confident in the film’s success even before its release, presented a car to director Suresh Rajakumari to commend his efforts. The car was handed over to the director’s mother at a pre-release event, where ace director Vetrimaaran, who mentored Suresh Rajakumari, presented the key in the presence of several celebrities and media personnel.

The story, inspired by real-life incidents, was crafted by director Tamizh, known for the critically acclaimed film ‘Taanakaran’. It is believed that Tamizh developed this narrative based on personal experiences.

Suresh Rajakumari, a co-director for the well-known director Vetrimaaran, has both written and directed ‘Sirai’. Vikram Prabhu leads the cast, with actress Anantha playing his romantic interest. The film also marks the acting debut of producer S S Lalit Kumar’s son, L K Akshay Kumar, with actress Anishma as his co-star.

The film’s music is composed by renowned music director Justin Prabhakaran, with cinematography by Madesh Manickam and editing by acclaimed editor Philomin Raj. Stunt choreography was handled by Prabhu, and Arun K and Manikandan serve as the two executive producers.

Shooting locations for the film included diverse places such as Chennai, Sivagangai, and Vellore.
