Hollywood actor Channing Tatum has paid tribute to the late James Ransone following his death at the age of 46.

Channing Tatum remembered Ransone as “one of the realest” in a heartfelt statement shared on his Instagram Story after they worked together in Dito Montiel’s 2011 crime thriller ‘The Son of No One’, as reported by Deadline.

“There ain’t words for these things (sic),” he wrote alongside a photo of the duo. “But you my friend… was one of the realest. I remember being in every conversation with you and just always being like I wonder what he’s gonna say!!??? Lololol.”

“I love you PJ I’ll see you on the next one my G,” Tatum added. Chloe Sevigny, Spike Lee, Sean Baker, and others have also paid tribute to Ransone after his passing.

According to Deadline, Ransone was found dead by hanging on Friday, having apparently died by suicide, as per the county medical examiner’s report. He leaves behind his wife Jamie McPhee and their son.

In the meantime, Channing Tatum is set to expand his resume with several high-profile and diverse upcoming projects. A major highlight is ‘Roofman’, a true-crime comedy-drama directed by Derek Cianfrance, where Tatum portrays real-life criminal Jeffrey Manchester. This film focuses on Manchester’s bizarre robbery sprees and life on the run.

The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and is expected to have a wide release in late 2025, having already garnered early acclaim and strong ratings from critics. Additionally, Tatum will take on dramatic roles in films like ‘Josephine’ (2026), a thriller-drama co-starring Gemma Chan, in which he plays a pivotal role in a narrative about fear and paranoia after a child witnesses a violent crime.

Principal photography for ‘Josephine’ commenced in 2024, and the film is anticipated to debut at festivals before its broader release. Tatum is also preparing for a significant return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, reprising his role as Gambit in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. This highly anticipated blockbuster is slated for late 2026 and promises an epic ensemble with universe-shaking stakes. Furthermore, he will star in ‘Kockroach’, a crime drama alongside Oscar Isaac and Zazie Beetz, further solidifying his standing in gritty, character-driven cinema.
